Wax lyrical to your kids on famous icons
Who hasn’t wanted to take a selfie with Brad or prank friends into thinking Elvis is in town (and back from the dead)? With the opening of Madame Tussauds Singapore, you might just pull it off.
The waxwork museum, hailing from London, features eerily accurate wax copies of historic icons, A-list celebrities, politicians, musicians and well known film characters,. So what? Well, it’s actually pretty eye-opening to see the dimensions of a person up close that you usually only see in the media
You might have to explain to the kids who some of the wax creations are of, depending on their age and historical prowess. In so doing, you can give them a history lesson on movers and shakers like Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Queen Elizabeth and ET!
They’ll have no trouble recognising Ms Swift, or queen of the (pop) world, Beyonce. The whole thing is quite immersive too, with various scenes and backgrounds set up for some Instagram-worthy moments. Unlike standard museums, there’s no red velvet rope, so you can get stand right next to the celeb’s for a pic, even if you can’t get an autograph.
Another neat attraction is the ‘Spirit of Singapore’ boat ride inside the museum. The interactive, audio-visual journey uses lights sounds and even smells to illustrate the most iconic scenes of Singapore, from the fragrances of Singapore’s many gardens to the deafening roar of the F1 racetrack. The boat ride ends on a cultural note as you sail through performances of Chinese opera, the lion dance and a simulated firework finale.
