Developed by Little Paddington Preschool, this well-rounded curriculum aims to help kids thrive in school and beyond.
When it comes to curriculum, the first thing that comes to mind is usually academic-related: such as subjects taught, teaching methodology, and learning goals. This is where Little Paddington Preschool sets itself apart by following a curriculum that focuses on hearts, hands, and minds.
What is a hearts, hands, and minds-driven curriculum?
According to Little Paddington’s Head of Curriculum Development Ms. Priya, ‘hearts, hands, and minds’ refer to the foundational pillars of the preschool’s curriculum. It focuses on developing every child’s self-confidence (heart), providing them with hands-on learning opportunities (hand), and equipping them with critical thinking skills (mind).
To put simply, Little Paddingon’s curriculum is designed to help children thrive not just academically, but in all aspects: cognitively, socio-emotionally, and physically.
Here’s what a ‘hearts, hands, and minds’ curriculum look like in action

Children at all of Little Paddington’s campuses start their day with “Be Pawsitive”, a zumba and breathing exercise routine that’s accompanied by happy songs. This positive kick-off, coupled with daily lessons infused with good values (eg. kindness, honesty, respect) taught by caring teachers ensures that each child feels seen and heard. This is how Little Paddington educators’ deliver the ‘hearts’ component of the curriculum.
When it comes to ‘hands’, hands-on learning is at the core of everything Little Paddington does. Lessons are made relevant and tangible through its atelier programmes, such as its United Nations atelier, art, science, as well as cooking. Plus, hands-on learning allows the little ones to practise fine motor skills too.

Last but not least, Little Paddington’s educators enrich its students’ ‘minds’ with small group works and projects. Children can choose the materials to use, as well as plan, analyse, and collaborate on their projects. There are also daily practices in literacy, numeracy, and Mandarin skills from Nursery 2 onwards, providing them with a solid academic foundation. Besides that, the preschool has an immersive Mandarin programme that allows children to learn the language and culture in specially curated Mandarin spaces in each campus (you can check out the Sixth Avenue campus’ Mandarin Cultural Experience Room here).
