Thinking of a cruise vacay with the fam this school holiday? Genting Dream is having a Sugar Pop Carnival on its cruises, and we’ve got the parfait (read: perfect) family cruise itinerary for you!
Here’s a piece of sweet news for all cruise vacay fans: Resorts World Cruises is hosting a Sugar Pop Carnival on its Genting Dream ship from 17 May till 30 June 2023. This means that on top of an all-inclusive holiday on the high seas, you’ll also get to indulge in sweet treats, create sugary crafts, and try your hand at candy-themed carnival games onboard.
Sounds like a dream? We think so too. And we’ve prepared a simple family itinerary to give you some ideas on how to enjoy this sweet cruise to the fullest.
A sweet weekend getaway cruise itinerary for families
Day One
All aboard!
Get ready to set sail on the 335m-long Genting Dream cruise ship! This is a ship outfitted with top notch amenities and cool facilities to make your weekend getaway a great one. Think of it as a floating resort, where the view changes every day!
As boarding starts in batches at 3pm, use your first day to settle in the little ones. The balcony stateroom is spacious enough for a family with two young children. Or go luxe and live the suite (and, in this case, sweet) life at Genting Dream’s The Palace, where you’ll enjoy 24-hour butler concierge service as well as private dining and facilities perks.
Pro-tip: Use this time to plan and pre-book your onboard experience (meals, visits to the Sugar Pop Carnival, amusement facilities, and shows) so you can maximise your cruise vacay.
Day Two
Morning: Start the day with a splash
Rise and shine! Head to The Lido for a sumptuous buffet breakfast, where you’ll enjoy a fine selection of international and local dishes.
After that, take advantage of the mild morning sun and squeeze in some pool time with the kids. Genting Dream has a Kids Water Park for the little ones, while the adventurous tweens and teens can try out all six different slides at the Waterslide Park (parents are welcome to try too)!
Afternoon: Carnival time!
The kiddos will be famished after a fun time at the pool. Dry up and sample some delicious Chinese food at the Dream Dining Room Upper, or try the Umi Uma teppanyaki at Genting Dream’s flagship Japanese restaurant.
Now, you may be tempted to grab desserts. We recommend you save some tummy space and finish lunch on a sweet note at the Sugar Pop Carnival! After all, this candy-themed carnival is the current highlight of the cruise. Snag a chocolatey treat at the Outdoor Fondue Bar and accompanying food stalls. There’s a pop-it installation to check out as well – a great place to snap some family wefies. Don’t forget to try your luck at the carnival game booths and win some prizes!
Pre-dinner: Free and easy
Take it easy after visiting the Sugar Pop Carnival to rest before dinner time. This is a good time for the little ones to take a nap; or you can bring them to visit the Little Dreamers Club. This is the ship’s kids club that’s designed for children aged two to 12, with toys and activities that are thoughtfully curated to keep them entertained.
Got high energy tweens and teens? No problem – the ship’s Rock Climbing Wall and Ropes Course is bound to keep their adrenaline pumping! There are also two arcades for those who prefer video and electromechanical games.
As for the parents – this is your chance to unwind with some spa time at Crystal Life Spa, do indulge in retail therapy at The Boutiques, or enjoy a tipple at Genting Dream’s well-stocked Bar City.
Night: Show time
For dinner, treat the family to an epicurean meal at Bistro. This speciality restaurant serves Western fine dining: think premium steak cuts and stunning seafood platters.
Once dinner service is over, make your way to the Zodiac Theatre to catch the production of the night. There’s a different show every night – ranging from magic shows, musicals, to concerts – so check the programme details once you’ve boarded to pick one for the family.
Day Three
Check out
Time certainly does fly when you’re having fun. Get the little ones to help with packing, be sure to check that nothing is left behind, and head home with sweet memories from your weekend getaway cruise.
