Join us for an insider look at International French School (Singapore)’s brand new kindergarten campus, which will be making its debut in September 2025.
The little ones grow up so quickly — one moment they’re taking their first steps and the next, they’re ready for preschool. But with so many preschools offering different curriculum and pedagogies, finding the right preschool for your child can get overwhelming. Should you be looking for one that offers a balanced and structured curriculum in a nurturing environment, then read on for our sneak peek of International French School’s (Singapore) kindergarten campus — opening its doors in September 2025.
1. Lovely child-centric approach

Our children are the centre of our world, so how amazing is it when a school puts them first as well? IFS prioritises developing the little ones’ autonomy, responsibility, emotional security, and social skills. In doing so, this helps to boost their self-esteem, foster their independence, plus teaches them to work as a team. We love how these skills set them up for life, and can be applied in and out of school.
It’s said that kids absorb new languages the best (and the fastest) when they’re little. As such, you can expect your little ones’ language skills to flourish in IFS’ unique plurilingual system. IFS is big on multilingualism, with its Kindergarten students being immersed in French, English, and Mandarin from the start.
It’s not all about academics either! Creativity is prominent in all areas of learning, where children get to explore art, music, and drama; offering them varied avenues for expression.
We love how it’s a blend of old and new at IFS, which finds the perfect balance between its French école maternelle model established in 1881 and modern Reggio Emilia and Montessori practices. Students will basically get the best of both worlds.
2. Low student-educator ratio

All we want is for our kids to be in good hands. That’s why some parents go for preschools with low student-teacher ratios, so that the children get a good amount of personalised attention. Parents will find this at IFS, where one educator is in charge of just nine students. Each class has qualified and passionate educators and teaching assistants on hand as well.
3. Sustainability at its core
At HoneyKids, we believe it’s never too early to start teaching kids about sustainability. Even better if they’re surrounded by eco-friendly efforts all day! We love how IFS’ new kindergarten campus is a zero-energy building, functioning solely on solar power. This is also great for the students’ health, as they’ll be immersed in a carbon-neutral space.
The classrooms are decked out with special low-emissivity double-glazed windows which block heat and UV rays, maximising natural daylight at the same time. To combat the heat, IFS goes all out to keep the students cool with intelligent cooling strategies that reduce overall energy consumption. Think: smart air-conditioning controls, energy-efficient ceiling fans… the works.
That’s not all: the school even has an integrated water management system, where all the rainwater that falls on the building is collected, purified, and used to water the greenery on campus.
What’s more, this gives kids the chance to see sustainability in action. Teachers actively point sustainability principles out to the students during their daily routines, igniting their curiosity and spurring them on to incorporate eco-friendly practices into their lives back home.
4. Sprawling villa classroom concept

The learning environment is paramount too, with young children thriving on social interactions with their peers. Watch them navigate challenges by learning how to collaborate as a team which, in turn, stimulates their creative thinking skills.
To create a tight-knit community, IFS’ new classrooms have an innovative design. We’re talking about four clusters of classrooms, which are interconnected by a shared area (the ‘agora’). Built to help little minds grow, this design allows children to learn and play in their own classrooms, before coming together to interact with other kids. This will also help them feel as if they’re part of one big family, which is what IFS is all about.
