What do kids love more than being outdoors? Bubbles! Nexus shares an easy-peasy activity to keep your little ones busy (and happy) this summer...
In an ideal world, summertime would be all about carefree, lazy days of fun in the sun. But in reality (as anyone with kids will tell you), summer is chaos. This is why once school’s out, parents are desperately always on the lookout for activities to keep their kids busy. Step forward one of Singapore’s most innovative international schools: Nexus! We already know that when it comes to cool, techy and creative activities, Nexus International School well and truly has it sussed. Next up from its team of ever-creative teachers? A tutorial we can all use to make giant bubbles! Perfect for making your summer with kids go with a lovely big pop.
The how to do it and what you need for giant bubble creating
Ed Bailey, the Digital Learning Coach of Nexus International School (Singapore) knows a thing or two about giant bubbles and bubble wands, so we’ve been talking to him about how we can create our own bubble making lab at home! He gathered up some students to show us exactly how it’s done, and assures us it’s not only super easy, but that the ‘secret’ ingredients are likely lying around our kitchens and in our craft boxes already!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Fairy washing-up liquid
- Glycerine (available in any chemist)
- Rope or strong string
- Scissors
- Masking tape
- Straws
- Water
And here’s how the cool kids at Nexus did it…
If your kids thought that was a blast, then they’ll love Nexus’s fun approach towards learning. Technology is seamlessly integrated into everyday learning to encourage curiosity and innovation to engage curious young minds. In fact, it takes learning to a whole new, techy level! It even has a Makerspace filled to the brim with gadgets and tools to encourage students to create, learn, build, make and explore. Sounds like our kinda place.
From Primary Years onwards, Nexus students use technology in their daily learning. Each student has access to a laptop or an iPad to help bring awesome tech-projects to life and inspire learning that kids feel passionate about – because Nexus is a big believer in providing all of its students with the right tools they need to help them succeed. Every single child’s learning journey is important to Nexus, which is why they personalise experiences to individual’s strengths: and the results are easy to see from the smiling faces in this bubble tutorial! Happy, busy kids = successful, keen students, after all.
If there’s one thing other than a cool bubble activity our cute video proves, it’s that when it comes to making learning fun, Nexus has it aced.
