We chat with Anne Trads Hansen, the woman behind Singapore's Cath Kidston
You have seen Pandora and now Cath Kidston stores pop up all over the island lately. We jumped at the chance to catch up with the mother-of-two powerhouse who brought these style icons to Singapore. We spent an afternoon with Anne Trads Hansen (co-founder of Norbreeze Group) in her airy, coastal abode to get the scoop on how she manages work and family demands while looking (and staying!) glam throughout the day.
Hello, Anne! Norbreeze Group has brought brands like Cath Kidston, Philip Stein, and Pandora (we love!) to Singapore. What do you love most about your job?
I get to do what I love and never have a dull moment. I appreciate the constant challenges I face in running Norbreeze. As an Asian retail specialist, we bring in exciting new brands to Singapore that enhance the shopping scene. It’s hard work, but also a lot of fun.
We’ve got to know: what’s your secret to handling work stress and family life with nary a hair out of place?
It’s all about discipline and prioritising. I made a lot of adjustments to my schedule after I had my kids (such as tweaking my working hours to 9am-3pm). It’s important to know what makes you happy as a mother and as a woman. To me, a happy mummy makes a happy baby!
Your kids are a natural on camera; they’re so photogenic! Where do get your fab kids clothes in Singapore?
H&M, Cath Kidston, and Copenhagen Delights. I’m a very practical mother, and I have the luxury of receiving hand-me-downs from friends and family. When I do shop for my kids I look for good quality threads at affordable prices.
What’s your favourite kids’ activity in Singapore?
Playing by the beach! We are early risers and usually take the bike or a boogie board on Sunday mornings from our home at Sentosa to the beach. It always gives me a holiday feeling, and my kids love being outdoors.
If you only did one thing with your kids every day, what would it be?
Cuddling in bed and drinking babyccinos.
Best kid-friendly restaurant in Singapore, off the top of your head?
Jamie’s Italian at VivoCity – not because of any playground or outdoor space, but simply because of their healthier food options for kids, and the good and prompt service. They also serve our favourite Danish drink (elderflower), and my kids love the interesting toy basket they provide.
Running a business, running after your kids… life for a working mum sure seems tough. Who’s your secret superwoman?
That would be Cath Kidston. Her ability to create a brand from a simple vision inspires me. She manages to harness creativity into her job, run a successful business, juggle her family life and yet stays simple and connected.
What’s your favourite time of the day?
Mornings. Every morning is a new beginning, and a chance to do even better!
Your positivity is infectious. What inspires you?
Kids, music, dance, travelling, colours and painting.
We’re dying to know: any more babies on the horizon?
If there is one thing I’ve learned since coming to Singapore, it’s this: never say never! 😉
Singapore is where you call home now. We’re curious to find out what you think its best-kept secret is?
The people. I have lived here for 15 years and have met the most inspiring and passionate people here. Singaporeans keep surprising me with their kindness and support.
What do you never leave home without?
My keycard (for access to my home), my iPhone, and my dual-time Philip Stein Watch.
Thanks for chatting with us, Anne! Can you adopt us?
