To be crowned HoneyKids Asia’s International School of the Year, every aspect of the school needs to be considered. It takes more than just impressive facilities, exceptional teachers, culturally immersive dual-language programs, or stellar academic performances. Dulwich College (Singapore) delivers on all of this, however the focus on the students as the heart of the school and its drive to develop socially responsible, eco sensitive, truly global citizens is what impressed our judges. With more than 400 years of tradition stemming from the founding College in London and its sister schools in Asia, Dulwich College (Singapore) is steeped in values for the students to Live Worldwise.
A truly international school opening opportunities through learning dual languages
As Singapore is home to many expat families and as a true melting pot of cultures and one of the finest examples in the world of a racially harmonious community, Dulwich College (Singapore) believes in the importance of our young people acquiring confidence and competence in languages other than English. The school offers an impressive dual-language programme in English and Mandarin for children from two to seven years of age. Children, are taught by fully qualified native Chinese speaking and native English speaking Early Years practitioners, who assist them as they fluently switch between languages throughout the day, gaining bilingualism from an early age. This attention to Mandarin learning continues throughout the College, where students in Junior School attend daily Chinese classes, streamed according to ability; and Senior School students continue to learn Mandarin alongside their additional modern foreign languages. Older students are also offered the opportunity to immerse themselves in languages and culture on a range of international study trips.
Besides languages, sport and the arts are also revered at Dulwcih College (Singapore). All students are encouraged to participate in sporting competitions, and every child from the age of 7 is taught a musical instrument. Drama and opportunities for public speaking feature heavily from an early age.
Exceptional academic performances
Well known for being academically selective, Dulwich College (Singapore) follows the rigorous English National Curriculum and incorporating elements of the Common Entrance syllabus. The most recent graduating cohort from the Senior School saw 118 students sitting for the full IBDP exams and averaged 36.8 points, with 33% scoring 40 points or higher and a 100% pass rate. Three students received perfect scores of 45 (an achievement less than 200 students accomplish worldwide each year), and 12 received prestigious Bilingual Diplomas. Amazingly, 100% of its graduating students secured their first choice offer for university.
Globally minded and ec0-conscious – introducing Singapore’s first net-zero educational building
