Kajal saw happy children everywhere she looked at Dover Court International School (DCIS), which welcomed her child with open arms. Here’s how a school that celebrates each child for who they are truly helps them blossom!
We’re just going to put it out there: we believe that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to educating our kids. Every child is delightfully unique, and what works for one child might not work for another. Kajal, a parent of an eight-year-old kiddo, had the same mindset. When she was looking for a school for her son, she was especially taken by how Dover Court International School (DCIS) championed diversity and nurtured children of all abilities.
We sat down with Kajal to learn more about why she chose DCIS, and how it helped her son settle in.
What were the most important factors for you in selecting a school?
I was looking for a school that offered a great balance between academics and holistic development, with a strong emphasis on values, global citizenship, inclusivity, and a nurturing environment.
When I visited DCIS, I was greeted with such warmth and authenticity. Every step of the process, starting from the initial visit continuing till date, has been welcoming. The school’s commitment to inclusion, academic excellence, and personalised learning stood out, as well as the sense of genuine care from teachers and staff. Most importantly, I saw happy, positive, and engaged children at every turn.
What do you like most about attending the school?

I love the inspiring learning environment, the teachers’ dedication, and how my child comes home excited to share what he has learnt each day. The school’s commitment to nurturing each student’s strengths, and encouraging a love of learning, has been clear from day one.
What’s invaluable to me is that from day one, the teachers and staff made my child feel seen and valued. The transition was smooth, and the teachers helped him settle in quickly and make friends. The attention and support from both academic and pastoral staff made my child feel safe, confident, and happy.
How about your child?
My child has truly blossomed since joining DCIS. He has found a wonderful balance between learning and play, and looks forward to going to school every day. He adores the engaging classroom activities, the caring teachers, and the friendships he has made. He also enjoys the specialist subjects, such as music, PE, and Mandarin, as well as the wide range of co-curricular activities.
The school has plenty of modern and well-equipped learning spaces, playgrounds, and specialist areas — and he especially loves the outdoor learning areas and the vibrant music department.
What do you value most about the school?
I deeply value the sense of community, the open and respectful communication, and the school’s dedication to helping every child thrive in their own unique way. The inclusive ethos and individualised attention have made a big difference for our family. DCIS is a great school because it truly nurtures the whole child — intellectually, socially, and emotionally — while fostering a strong sense of inclusion and community.
What advice would you give other parents trying to choose a school?
Trust your instincts, and don’t hesitate to ask questions. Visit the school in person and talk to other parents if you can. Look for a school that prioritises wellbeing as much as academics, just like DCIS does!
Thanks for sharing all this with us, Kajal!
