New Childrens' Art Studio
Is is too early to start art appreciation? Gee, we’re not too clued up ourselves, let alone our kids. We do know that bidding on lots at Sotheby’s is a bit out of our reach though. That’s why we love the Affordable Art Fair. Yes, it’s back again with it’s 100th exhibition in a brand new May edition. But that’s not all that’s new.
This year, the Affordable Art Fair are introducing a Childrens’ Art Studio, where kids can get cluey on contemporary and tell their Duchamp’s from their Emin’s. With its new theme of Metamorphosis, the fair has grown to include a new focus on kids and families. So, while mum and dad take in modern options between $100-$10,000, kids can try their hand at creating a masterpiece all of their own.
Hosted by the Amazing Art Shuttle, the Children’s Art Studio offers the opportunity to experiment with techniques like paint blowing, leaf stamping and finger painting. They will even make their own artwork to take home – drawing on this years theme, they will create a handmade tree that might be wall-worthy if you leave the fair with nothing else!
Now what would a contemporary art showing be without a touch of Andy Warhol? We’re not sure the prince of pop art ever envisaged combining contemporary art with parenthood but the range of Andy Warhol-inspired Bugaboo’s launching at the Fair are pretty cool. If you want to own a piece of this iconic artist for your infant then its as simple as taking a family pic in front of the photo wall then post and tag #AAFSGBugaboo to Instagram. You’ll recognise his Velvet Underground banana design faster than you can say Lou Reed. Cool bananas!
Kids, art, budget, Bugaboo and Andy Warhol at the Affordable Art Fair. What’s not to love! See you there.
