Good things come in threes – Academia has just proved this to be true with its third gold win in the Singapore Education Awards. We’ve got the full deets on its secret to success.
Academia has just been crowned gold winner of the Best English Language Enrichment Centre for the third year in a row in our HoneyKids Asia Education Awards – what an impressive feat! The centre continues to wow our Singapore Education Award judges with its effective teaching methods, fab results, and community support that extends beyond exams.
Curious to know what makes Academia a three-time gold winner when it comes to English enrichment programmes? Read on as we break it down for you.
Evidence-based teaching methods, tailored to meet every student’s needs.

When it comes to learning, students enjoy the best of all worlds at Academia. The centre’s tutors use a combination of evidence-based educational approaches to guide and teach students. We’re talking about a mix of the best local teaching practices along with those that are refined at prestigious universities. No rote learning here – the English language comes alive through high-engagement skills-based learning at Academia.
Besides that, the centre’s curriculum is designed to be dynamic so tutors can tailor it to suit each of their student’s needs. While it aligns with the Singapore Ministry of Education’s syllabus, Academia also injects liberal arts features into its curriculum to give students and edge. This includes exposure to literary and cultural topics, not just to build student’s vocabulary, but also to broaden their knowledge so they can think critically and write about a wide range of exam topics confidently.
Highly qualified and experienced tutors from diverse backgrounds

Did you know that Academia’s tutors have really impressive academic backgrounds? They’re alumni of top local and international universities who excel not just in the English language, but in the various fields of humanities. One of them even has a doctorate from the University of Oxford; and Academia’s founder was one of Singapore’s top students in the 2000 O-Levels exams, as well as a Princeton University alumnus. Some of its teachers are also currently pursuing postgraduate studies while teaching.
All of Academia’s tutors have gone through rigorous training in classroom management, the curriculum, and marking prior to teaching. Their diverse backgrounds also allow them to introduce students to different perspectives – an important aspect when developing students’ critical thinking and problem solving skills.
It’s not just about exams at Academia

It’s no surprise that Academia’s programmes produce impressive results: over 50% AL1 in PSLE, almost 100% A/B for the O-Level English, and over 70% Distinctions for the A-Level General Paper.
However, the centre’s support for students doesn’t just stop here. Academia’s tutors often guide their students in their direct school admission for secondary school applications, university interviews, and even scholarship essays.
The centre also supports community initiatives like TheWriteChance and Care4Students, contributing its academic expertise in empowering children and helping those from low-resourced families – we stan this!
Congratulations again to Academia!
