We’ve been enjoying a stress-free week with our kiddos, thanks to the very successful HoneyKids Asia x MumRadar talk: Negotiation Skills For Families.
The ever-so-insightful lawyer/mediator/mum Dana Grossman led the talk, and armed us with some awesome tools to deal with even the most savvy little manipulator negotiator.

With negotiation skills peaking at four years of age (there’s something to be said for the nothing ventured, nothing gained maxim combined with irresistible cuteness and an unrelenting capacity to whinge), we were in serious need of power shift in our household. Dana’s lifesaving tips came in the nick of time!
Missed the event? Don’t fret, we’re big believers in sharing the love and empowering fellow zoo keepers parents to maintain Zen at home. We’ve attached an amazing printable cheat sheet to arm you with a lifeline when tempers start to flare (and when cutting Matilda’s fluffy bunny in two to placate squabbling siblings isn’t an option). Take a deep breath, hit print, and smile in the knowledge that you’ve got the clever clogs beat.
Our favourite take-aways from the talk? Akin to fitting the aeroplane oxygen mask to yourself before assisting your child, take time to meet your own pressing needs (like a toilet break) before attempting to mediate World War III. It will make for a much calmer discussion all round. We also LOVE Dana for saying that the starting position can always be ‘yes’, because it’s how you couch the approval that counts. No-one likes nay-sayer. (We may or may not have also used a few of Dana’s secret tips on our partners too.)
Last week’s brilliant event was a lovely opportunity to mingle with like-minded mums in the stunning surrounds of the recently opened Tanderra Club. Fancy trotting along to the next bash? HoneyKids Asia x MumRadar talk: Supporting Speech Development will be coming very soon…!
