Big news for NDP 2026: the fireworks have moved to Kallang Basin. We know you've got plans for National Day. Whether it's fireworks or just want to know where the best family-friendly spots are, we've got you covered: from free waterfront vantage points to restaurants with a view.
We love it when the skies light up with dazzling flashes of light and colour. Families gather, kids crane their necks, and for a few glorious minutes everyone forgets they’re tired and cranky and just stares up in wonder. Magic.
For NDP 2026, there’s one significant change you need to know about: the fireworks are no longer launching from Marina Bay. With the National Day Parade moving to the National Stadium for the first time in a decade, the main fireworks display will be over Kallang Basin. If you rock up to your usual Marina Bay Sands promenade spot and wonder why nothing’s happening — now you know.
The good news: the Kallang precinct has brilliant spots for families, many of them less congested than the Marina Bay scramble, and several with actual green space for kids to run around while waiting. We’ve added all the best Kallang viewing spots below, and kept the Marina Bay and Singapore River options for New Year’s Eve and other fireworks occasions throughout the year.
As always, we also have the top places to watch fireworks year-round — including the spot in Sentosa that shoots fireworks every single night.
TL;DR for NDP 2026: The fireworks are at Kallang Basin this year — not Marina Bay — because the National Day Parade has moved to the National Stadium. Your best free spots are Stadium Riverside Walk, Tanjong Rhu Lookout Tower, Kallang Riverside Park and Bugis Meadow. Arrive by 6pm to snag a good spot. Bring a picnic mat, mosquito spray and water. The fireworks usually start after 7.30pm.

Best places to watch NDP 2026 fireworks at Kallang Basin
This is the section you need for National Day 2026. The main fireworks display will launch from around Kallang Basin, so the best views are all in the Kallang area this year. Here are our top picks — all free, all family-friendly, and all a reasonable distance from Stadium MRT (CC6).
Practical notes before you go: the fireworks usually start after 7.30pm, so arrive by 6pm to secure a good spot. Bring a picnic mat (you will need it at most of these locations), insect repellent, water, and something to keep the kids occupied while you wait. The nearest MRT station for most spots is Stadium (CC6) on the Circle Line.
Stadium Riverside Walk

This is our top pick for families with kids of all ages. The landscaped waterfront stretch just outside Kallang Wave Mall wraps around a large part of the Sports Hub precinct, giving you room to move and find a clear line of sight as the crowd builds up. It’s a long stretch, so you’re not pinned to one fixed spot, which is genuinely useful when you’ve got small children who need wriggle room. You’re also very close to the National Stadium, so the fireworks will feel wonderfully overhead. Kallang Wave Mall is right there if you need food, toilet breaks or a quick air-con recovery before the main event.
Where: Stadium Drive, Stadium Riverside Walk, Singapore 397628. Nearest MRT: Stadium (CC6).
Kallang Riverside Park
A lovely spot for families who want a more relaxed, park-style evening rather than standing on pavement. Located just north of Kallang Basin along Kallang Road and Crawford Street, the park has benches and little sheltered huts along the riverside, so you can enjoy the fireworks without standing the whole time. Go early, explore a bit, and keep an eye out for smooth-coated otters along the riverbank (genuinely — they show up). This is a picnic mat spot, so pack your supplies.
Where: Corner of Kallang Road and Crawford Street, Singapore 397732. Nearest MRT: Lavender (EW11) or Kallang (EW10).
Singapore Indoor Stadium north entrance
A lesser-known one, and all the better for it. Head to the flight of stairs near the Indoor Stadium and climb up to the rooftop area — it’s further from the National Stadium than some of the other spots, but the atmosphere is quieter, the views of the Singapore skyline are genuinely beautiful, and there’s a whimsical mirror ball sculpture called “Dream” to amuse the kids while you wait. Bring sunscreen or a hat if you’re arriving early, and a picnic mat for comfort.
Where: 2 Stadium Walk, Singapore Indoor Stadium North Entrance, Singapore 397691. Nearest MRT: Stadium (CC6).
Kallang Water Sports Centre
For a direct, close-up view of the fireworks over Kallang Basin, this is hard to beat. The Water Sports Centre sits right along the basin, so you’re looking straight at the action. It’s particularly atmospheric once the sun sets and the water starts reflecting the skyline and lights. There are railings, but no seating, so bring a mat or a foldable chair if you want to wait in any kind of comfort. A four-minute walk from Stadium MRT.
Where: 8 Stadium Walk, Singapore 397699. Nearest MRT: Stadium (CC6).
Lookout deck at Kallang Basin
A good option if you want to avoid the bigger crowds closer to the stadium. The elevated deck is opposite the National Stadium and overlooks the basin, so the views are solid without being in the middle of the scrum. It’s near the Waterways Watch Society (use that as your navigation landmark). As with most of these spots, a mat or foldable chair is recommended.
Where: Near Waterways Watch Society, 4876 Beach Road, Singapore 199587.
Bugis Meadow
Our top pick for families who want a proper picnic setup. The Bugis Meadow is a large grassy area within Kallang Riverside Park, overlooking Kallang Basin and with a direct view of the National Stadium. Spread out your mat, unpack the snacks, set up some card games, and let the kids roll around on the grass while you wait for the main event. It’s exactly what a National Day evening should feel like. Take Exit A from Lavender MRT (EW11) and allow 10 to 15 minutes to walk over.
Where: Corner of Kallang Road and Crawford Street, Singapore 397732. Nearest MRT: Lavender (EW11).
Tanjong Rhu Suspension Bridge

For an elevated, over-the-water experience of the fireworks, this pedestrian bridge within Tanjong Rhu Promenade is a beautiful spot. The reflections of the lights and buildings on the water below make for a genuinely magical backdrop — and the kids will love the sensation of standing over the basin. You can also wander along the promenade before the fireworks start. About a four-minute walk from Kallang MRT (Exit A).
Where: 50 Tanjong Rhu Place, Singapore 436621. Nearest MRT: Kallang (EW10).
Tanjong Rhu Lookout Tower
A four-storey lookout tower with panoramic views over the National Stadium, Kallang Basin and the surrounding skyline. Climb up, feel the breeze, take in the view — and then watch the fireworks from one of the best elevated spots in the area. Worth the effort. Also a four-minute walk from Kallang MRT (Exit A).
Where: 50 Tanjong Rhu Place, Singapore 436621. Nearest MRT: Kallang (EW10).
Merdeka Bridge
A bridge east of the National Stadium offering elevated, unobstructed views over Kallang Basin. Shared by pedestrians and vehicles, so it can get noisy and there is no shade — bring an umbrella if you’re arriving in daylight. Below the bridge, there are grass patches where you can watch the fireworks while seated; bring a mat if you’re planning to use that option. A solid pick for older kids who are fine with a bit of noise and standing.
Where: Merdeka Bridge, east of Singapore National Stadium. No direct MRT — approach on foot from Stadium MRT (CC6).
OCBC Square
The practical pick. Right outside Stadium MRT (CC6), conveniently next to Kallang Wave Mall, and easy to exit quickly after the fireworks if you want to beat the crowd on the way home. Not the most scenic or intimate spot, but you can load up on food and snacks from the mall beforehand, the kids can cool off in the air-conditioning before the main event, and you won’t have to walk far in either direction. Sometimes the most sensible option is the best option.
Where: 4 Stadium Walk, Singapore 397691. Nearest MRT: Stadium (CC6).
An important update for NDP 2026: there are no heartland celebrations or heartland fireworks this year. The community celebrations have been consolidated at the Kallang precinct, which is open daily from 25 July to 9 August with performances, light displays and activities.
