1. Get busy with art, craft, storytelling and movies
Head to the library in Queenstown this weekend and join in with its 47th birthday art and craft celebrations! Kids can listen in to a fun story, create something crafty and then stay for the screening of family-friendly movie, Shrek The Final Chapter.

2. Catch a theatre show for toddlers

3. Be social at a pop up market
It’s no secret that we love a pop-up market so we’re definitely marking this one on our calendar: Sunday Social at Camp Kilo Charcoal Club is inviting us all to discover cool local brands, talented crafters, artisanal bakers and a pretty mean Sunday roast.

4, Wear the kids out at a pop-up adventure playground
Get the kids’ imaginations all fired up with some great storytelling sessions inspired by the Year of the Rooster over at the Imagination Festival at Playeum. Parents can pick up tips on expanding kiddos’ minds through creativity at specially conducted talks, while young adventurers will love the pop-up adventure playground on site for the day.

5. Catch a fowl theatre performance
There’s a fun musical squawking into town and tots of all ages are going to love it: Poultry Tales is an all-singing, all-dancing collection of classic feathery tales chosen especially for the Year of the Rooster. The Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs, The Little Red Hen and Chicken-Licken will be flapping up a storm in this cracking interactive theatre performance filled with egg-cellent humour and wacky characters.

6. Check out a new indoor play centre
There were collective cheers in the office when we heard that creative indoor play centre, Kaboodle, had reopened its doors at a brand new location. Bigger, brighter and with more imagination potential than ever, we’re all invited to the official opening party this weekend. See you there!

8. Find a furry friend at the Voices for Animals Adoption Drive
Voices for Animals is flinging open its doors this weekend in the hope of finding a forever home for ex-breeding dogs who desperately need a family to love. With breeds ranging from French Bulldogs to Boxers, Poodles to Poms, you are bound to find a pooch to steal your heart!

The Istana is throwing open its doors to the public for the Labor Day Public Holiday for us all to take a sticky beak around Singapore’s most famous home and office. Visitors can join a tour around the main building, and also take a spin through the gardens for the chance to learn some local history in a gorgeously green setting.

10. Put new pockets of Singapore on your radar
Think you’ve explored most of Singapore? That’s about to change, thanks to the return of the annual Singapore Heritage Festival. The festival is set to entice explorers and history lovers through “SHF Takes Over”, a new program which will bring you on an exciting tour of lesser-known hot spots around the island, including Caldecott Broadcast Centre, Bukit Pasoh and Little India.
