This weekend is all about dad and once he’s opened all his cool Father’s Day presents and the family has conquered an epic Father’s Day feast, we’ll need some other fun things to do around Singapore to keep the celebrations going. Go dotty at a new family-friendly exhibition, explore a gorgeously green part of Singapore, drop in for some fun art ‘n’ craft sessions or try your hand at virtual reality: yep, we’ve got 10 totally awesome things lined up for this Father’s Day weekend…
1. Spend precious time with the kiddos
Kids and dads can get crafty at the Precious Time drop-in sessions where they’ll be creating a cool pocket watch made out of paper, foam and yarn.

2. Let dad be a kid for the day
Our kids are always up for a trying out a future profession at KidZania, and this June dad gets to join in the fun too. Entry is free for all dads (conditions apply) and there’s an exclusive program happening especially for dad and his offspring including new role-play activities designed for parent-child teams.

3. Flex your green fingers at Gardener’s Day Out
Get out into the fresh air and pick up a gardening tip or two at the Gardener’s Day Out event over at Hort Park. Check out the family activities including workshops, storytelling sessions, a food bazaar and nature walks.

4. Go dotty for a new exhibition
Singapore is all a-buzz with the Children’s Biennale, and National Gallery Singapore have outdone themselves by bringing us the fantastically trippy work of internationally acclaimed Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. Her exhibition, YAYOI KUSAMA: Life is the Heart of the Rainbow features over 120 works, including new, never-before-seen pieces and is the first major showing of Kusama’s work in South East Asia.

5. Be transported back to Edwardian England
This one is a MUST for all fans of popular Brit tv period drama, Downton Abbey. Based on the, frankly, wonderful television show, Downton Abbey: The Exhibition will give you the chance to peer into Lady Mary’s bedroom and the great hall, check out the sets and costumes from the show, and bag yourself a fun history lesson on life in Edwardian England.

6. Discover Coney Island
Go on an outdoors adventure and discover the history, flora and fauna of Coney Island Park on a free ecolife guided tour.

7. Blast off on a space journey: at the library!

8. Listen to a local storybook
PIP’s PLAYbox is renowned for its great a collection of books written by local writers, and the regular book reading sessions are a great way for kids to hear these stories brought to life. Join friendly readers for this Koko the Great session when you’ll hear tales set in HDB estates, forests and old kampong neighbourhoods.

9. Have a mega amount of fun at Sentosa
Make a beeline to Sentosa for the amazeballs Mega Fun Fest. Back bigger and better than ever, you’ll find giant inflatables, foam pools, a resident bubbleolgist, a crazy evening light show at the Merlion and tons more. Finish off the weekend with a family-friendly flick at Palawan beach. Full on fun.

10. Be social at a pop-up market
It’s no secret that we love a pop-up market so we’re definitely marking this one on our calendar: Sunday Social at Camp Kilo Charcoal Club is inviting us all to discover cool local brands, talented crafters, artisanal bakers and a pretty mean Sunday roast.
