From dance and martial arts to cooking and coding, UOL Malls have got a whole line-up of exciting June holidays workshops up its sleeves. Which one will your kid go for first?
We don’t know about you, but our kids really enjoy holiday workshops. They have so much fun, make lots of new friends and, hey, it sure beats staying at home! If you don’t know where to start, be spoiled for choice with UOL Malls’ first ever U-CAMP Holiday Workshops that’s happening over this upcoming school holiday, with workshops for every personality and age group. More conveniently, the holiday workshops are held across all three of its malls: United Square, Velocity@Novena Square, and KINEX. So you get to choose one that’s nearer to you.
Read on to figure out which holiday workshop you think will suit your kid best…
1. For the movers and shakers

Does your child start tapping their toes whenever the radio comes on, or can’t resist grooving to the beat when their favourite song plays? This school holiday, give them the opportunity to create their own music which, of course, starts with learning a new instrument!

- Velocity@Novena Square: Believer Music’s guitar or drums introductory classes held on 17 and 18 June are suitable for everyone aged 10 and above.
- KINEX: For kiddos from age seven onwards, feel the beat with Fine Momentum Academy’s (1-to-1 session) introduction to Drum Groove, Basic Drum Fill-in, Rock & Pop Music classes.
Want to complement their new-found musical skills with some sleek moves? Dance classes are available too, including an introduction to Kpop, hiphop, or tumbling by Distinct Creative Arts. Choose from June and the start of July, for children aged three and above.
2. For the energiser bunnies

If your child has lots of energy to burn, why not channel all that vigour into some martial arts classes and workshops? Besides, it’s never too early to start picking up self defence skills.

- Velocity@Novena Square: The basic Muay Thai and self-defence workshop by Fight Zone on 14, 15, 28, and 29 June looks to be a real highlight for children between the ages of seven and 19.

We can go on and on about the benefits of outdoor sports. With fresh air, a healthy dose of exercise, and great team-building skills, what’s not to like? We don’t know about you, but we’ll never pass up on the opportunity to let our little ones hone their skills or pick up a new sport.
- KINEX: Let your kiddos shoot some hoops at KOTC Basketball’s basketball clinics held on 21 and 22 June.

3. For the dreamers

Here’s a heads-up for all the aspiring artists and creative souls in our troop! There are workshops and classes dedicated to letting their creative juices flow.
U-CAMP Holiday Workshops to check out:
- KINEX: Does your mini-me enjoy hands-on activities? Kids seven years and up will have fun painting their own sneakers in a class by MurcyArt Gallery from 30 May to 6 July. Otherwise, level up by encouraging your children five years and up to paint an A4 canvas together with Tree Art on various dates in June and July.
Or, perhaps your little foodie has always dreamed of whipping up a feast in the kitchen? They can do so during Little Cook’s short and sweet cooking class from 30 May to 6 July, where they’ll learn how to cook delicious dishes designed specially for children. We love that this workshop is suitable for young ones aged two and above too!
- United Square: If your kiddos from nine to 10 years old have shown an interest in the written word, give them a taste of journalism with Aspire Hub Education on 11 June, where they can step into the shoes of a young journalist for two hours.
On the other hand, Hua Language Centre’s approach of combining language lessons with craft activities on 16 and 18 June could be a great way to make learning more interactive and enjoyable, especially for younger learners.
4. For the thinkers
We’ve all been there: sometimes our children have an ‘a-ha!’ moment, or they surprise us with their analytical thinking. If your child can always find their way out of a pickle in a jiffy, they might be a strategist in the making – sign them up for a chess or coding session to challenge their thinking skills!
U-CAMP Holiday Workshops to check out:
- United Square: Inspired by Queen’s Gambit, we’ve tried (and failed) to navigate our way through chess. Perhaps, your little ones will fare better? Give them — children aged six to 12 — a good headstart and foundation with Chess At Three’s beginner and advanced classes on 24 and 25 June.
For beginners, coders between the ages of five and 11 can learn the ropes from Futurum Academy during an introduction to coding and robotics from 17 to 19 June.

- KINEX: For the mini tech whizzes between the ages of seven and 12, they’ll absolutely love The Lab’s introduction to game design (specifically the Super Mario Platformer game) on 11, 12, and 13 June.
