A refreshed green space in Sathorn packed with outdoor things to do in Bangkok with kids.
A much-loved community park in Sathorn has officially reopened following a major renovation. The revamp brings an expanded green space, improved facilities with playgrounds, walking paths and nature trails, marking it as one of Bangkok’s Best Parks & Green Spaces.
Chalermprakiat Park 80th Anniversary of His Majesty the King was closed for renovation for nearly a year to address deteriorating facilities, excessive hard surfaces and limited daytime usability. The revamp focused on restoring its environmental balance, increasing greenery and improving safety, accessibility and sustainability for long-term public use.
What is Chalermprakiat 80th Anniversary Park?

This multipurpose community park spans around 17 rai (approximately 28,000 square metres). Established in 2007 to honour His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great on the auspicious occasion of his 80th birthday, the park was designed around the philosophy of sufficiency and harmonious living with nature.
Built on state-owned land in Sathorn, the venue has long served as a space for relaxation, learning and community activities. Landscape features include pond bridges, lotus ponds, fountains, sculptural walls and multipurpose buildings, creating a calm environment in the middle of the city.

Inside the revamp: What families can expect

Before the renovation, large concrete areas made it feel hot and less comfortable during the day and some facilities had become worn over time.
Today, the park feels greener and more welcoming, with nearly 4,000 square metres of added greenery, more shade trees, lawns and plants and much less concrete. Here’s what families can expect.
Walkway over the lake
A scenic walkway now stretches over the water, offering peaceful views and a lovely spot for an afternoon stroll.
Nature study trail
Families can explore a dedicated trail featuring a variety of plant species, creating opportunities for children to learn about nature while enjoying the outdoors.
Therapeutic garden
Designed as a calm, restorative space, this garden offers a quiet corner for relaxation surrounded by greenery.
Children’s playground
The upgraded playground provides a safe and fun space for kids to climb, explore and burn off energy.
Walking and jogging path
The refreshed walking and jogging paths create a pleasant setting for daily walks, light exercise or weekend runs.
Outdoor stage
The performance area provides a gathering spot for shows, activities and community celebrations throughout the year.
Why families are excited about the revamp

Families will be excited to see one of Sathorn’s key green spaces refreshed and ready to welcome the community again. With more trees, cooler shaded areas and improved facilities, the park now feels more comfortable for children to play, parents to relax and everyone to spend time outdoors together.
Why the revamp matters to families in Bangkok

The renewed Chaloem Phra Kiat 80th Anniversary Park represents more than just a visual upgrade. It reflects Bangkok’s broader effort to expand green space, improve environmental quality and support healthier city living.
