We were invited to meet the lovely teachers over at Singapore American School’s Early Learning Center, to find out what makes it such a happy learning environment for our littlies.
When you enter the Early Learning Center at Singapore American School, you know straight away the kids are in for a treat. From the spacious yet cosy classrooms to the super-friendly staff — it makes us wish we were kids ourselves! But what is it about this school that makes its students so happy? We ask Carly O’brien and Devin Bokaer, both teachers at the Early Learning Center, to let us in on the secret…
‘Student Agency’ is at the heart of everything at Singapore American School, alongside a Reggio Emilia inspired approach to learning. But what does this really mean to us non-teaching folk? Well, it’s all about learning experiences that are inspired by our kids’ suggestions and interests. Yup, this means our little ones can be the captains of their own learnings. Pretty cool, eh?
We also love that the Center aspires to be the “happiest place on the island”, and we reckon they’ve got all the magic ingredients to make it just that. Want to see what this looks like for yourself? Check out the virtual events taking place, so you can have a sneak peek without leaving home!
