Campus, curriculum and all: Here’s why this family is fond of SAIS.
Choosing from the range of international schools in Singapore can be a tough decision, and when you find one that both you and your child loves, you’d naturally want to share it with others. Jacqueline Lee’s daughter Zoeie has been enrolled in SAIS since 2012 when the new campus opened. Here’s why both mother and daughter are so fond of the school, which educates children aged from two months all the way up to 18 years.
Hi Jacqueline! We hear Zoeie is loving attending SAIS – what made you select this school?
I chose SAIS as it was a new school with up-to-date technology and equipment for students. There’s also an IB program and the opportunity for students to study Mandarin on a daily basis.
How has the school lived up to your expectations?
I’m glad my daughter has met dedicated teachers who have inspired her to be a risk-taker and develop her leadership skills. She’s gained a determination to learn and achieve her goals.
What’s the best part of your daughter’s experience there?
She loves being involved in the school’s theatre productions and choir performances. They’ve given her confidence, poise and grace, while challenging her to step out of her comfort zone and not be afraid to learn from failure.
How did the school make your child feel welcome?
The teachers are caring and welcome her with a warm smile every day. They are always willing to provide guidance and support.
What does the school do in terms of building a community for parents?
The Parents’ Fitness Group allows parents to meet on campus to work out together. There are also festival celebrations, an annual gala and other fun activities to connect. Plus, the school regularly communicates with parents via email, a weekly Superintendent’s newsletter and social media updates.
What advice would you give other parents trying to choose a school?
You should consider a school’s culture, mission, vision and core values to ensure that it aligns with your family’s values.
What do you value most about SAIS?
I love that SAIS has a warm and inclusive community with a dedicated leadership team and wonderful committed teachers. Plus, SAIS has a strong drama and music program, which has helped my daughter embrace her passion for singing, dancing and all things theatrical. Through these opportunities, she has developed into a confident and dedicated student.
Thank you, Jacqueline!
