Heard of Kidztropic Cove at Annex @ Furama? We’re told that it’s not the usual cookie-cutter playground — instead, it oozes calm vibes, has large spaces, and is big on encouraging family bonding through imaginative play.
We’ve all been there: it’s the weekend, and you just need a place for the kids to burn all that boundless energy (seriously, where does it all come from?!).
Indoor playgrounds are a total godsend in Singapore’s unrelenting heat, but they’re usually filled with towering play structures — which, admittedly, might seem a little too daunting or overstimulating for the littler ones.
So, when we were invited to check out Kidztropic Cove — a new indoor playground specially built for kids up to six years old — how could we resist?
Indoor playgrounds are usually high energy spaces, so imagine our surprise when we were greeted with such a calm and mellow vibe in Kidztropic Cove! The environment is low-stimulating and inviting, with play areas and toys that will definitely appeal to younger children.
We felt both excited and relaxed at the same time, and couldn’t wait to dive right in.
Plenty of free and imaginative play areas
There’s just so much for the kids to do here. Be a chef for a day, ride a car along a racetrack that goes around the entire playground, go camping in a tent, play pretend doctor, or even grill wooden skewers on a barbecue pit (a hot favourite!).
Or, how about playing with a cute little dollhouse, tinkering with Montessori toys, or having some downtime at the cosy reading nook?.
Everything is split into dedicated play areas; however, there’s no stopping the kids from carrying the toys wherever they wish to play. With large open spaces and hardly any fixed structures, the kids are free to transform the space into anything they want. It’s their world, and this is the time to let their creativity run free!
Say hello to lots of family bonding
Kidztropic Cove isn’t just for the kids, mind you; the play space is created to provide opportunities for families to play together.
The KT Kopitiam is the star of the show here; our five-year-old girl spent ages serving us coffee and all types of desserts – thank you very much!
The camping area was a major hit with our two-year-old toddler; we snuggled together in the cosy tent, and even lost track of the number of times he whizzed down the slide. He couldn’t get enough of the mini vehicles on the railroad mat either.
Both kids also played really well together at the role-playing areas, such as the doctor and barbeque stations. And yes, of course we parents were roped in to be their ailing patients. We love how the areas were set up to encourage interactive play, both independently and with others.
Parents, need to take a break?
If you need a breather, we totally feel you. The area is decked out with comfortable bay window seats, allowing parents to sit back and relax whilst still keeping a watchful eye on their kids. It’s the perfect place to connect with like-minded parents too, and fits right in with the mission of bringing families together.
Who knows, your kid might just find their next best friend (and you, a new mummy-or-daddy-friend to connect and relate with) right here at Kidztropic Cove!
TLDR: Kidztropic Cove is the perfect place for play dates without needing much supervision from the parents.
Our kids just can’t get enough!
We were at Kidztropic Cove for almost two hours, and our kids didn’t even want to leave. There are one- or two-hour slots available, but we’d say that you should be prepared to spend at least one-and-a-half hours here. In fact, if you see your family coming back lots, there are even annual passes that will get you the best bang for your buck.
Psst, don’t forget anti-slip socks for the whole fam! If not, you can easily buy a pair at the counter. Kids below the age of one get to enter for free too with a paying sibling or child. They also get to enter for free with an additional adult (charged at $5 on weekdays; and $7 on weekends and public holidays).
Besides the new outlet at Furama Riverfront, Kidztropic is also at Poiz Centre (right next to Potong Pasir MRT). This outlet has the same calm and inviting vibe, but takes it up a notch with slides, trampolines, and climbing walls. It even has exciting workshops from time to time — bookmark its website (or follow its Facebook and Instagram pages) to keep a lookout for any upcoming ones!
