Wanna ensure your child is effectively bilingual from a young age? Impact Family International School will help to pave the way. It won’t even break the bank too!
NGL, I wish I had taken my Mandarin lessons back in the day more seriously. Or that I paid more attention when my parents and relatives spoke in their dialect languages. Especially since it’s so much easier to pick up new languages at a young age! This was what spurred me to enrol my daughter in a school that offers a bilingual programme.
Having checked out loads of bilingual programmes, I have a good inkling of what makes a good one. Impact Family International School’s (IFIS) bilingual offering definitely stands out, here’s why.
The programme is helmed by native speaker teachers
IFIS has got the whole bilingual thing down pat, with an IPC curriculum offering both Cambridge English and Chinese on top of Singapore math and science. Students learn in both languages; on top of an amazing option to, get this, learn other languages too like Japanese and French. To ensure authenticity and top-notch quality, the programme is also conducted by native speakers.
There’s a specially curated reading programme
The reading programme is another highlight, where students are given curated texts in both languages to strengthen their mastery of either language. The English and Chinese content are either presented alongside each other or in integrated formats, and is read as part of the daily curriculum. They do this by echoing after the teachers, reading together as a whole group, reading in pairs, or acting out skits based on the books. The sweet part? There are challenges and rewards offered to the students as added motivation.
Students are kept up-to-date on current affairs

The curriculum includes real world case studies, ensuring that students stay relevant. They have lots of fun whilst learning as well, through activities like storytelling and drama. Project work is also an integral part of IFIS, giving students opportunities to collaborate with their peers.
Class sizes are intentionally kept small

Like all parents, I would love it if my child could get as much personalised attention as possible in school. This is why the small classes at IFIS stood out for me: classes are capped at one to eight students, ensuring that my child will get more attention from their teachers. Teachers often engage students in meaningful and thought-provoking conversations too — after all, the best way to master a language is to practice, practice, practice!
In fact, if a student has no English foundation, there’s even a special accelerator class to allow them to learn at their own pace.
Loads of opportunities for children to explore their passion
School’s not just about academic learning — it’s a place for students to discover new interests and pursue their passion in the form of extra-curricular activities (ECAs). Not only does IFIS offer a wide range of ECAs for students to choose from, the school also has state-of-the-art facilities to support and facilitate these activities. From tennis to wushu and performing arts to swimming, there’s something for every child. In fact, IFIS even provides transportation for students should the ECA venue be off-campus.
On top of that, the school also provides enrichment programmes like piano as well as speech and drama to encourage confidence, creativity, and expression in children.
School fees don’t break the bank
Quality education that doesn’t burn my pocket? Music to every parent’s ears. IFIS has affordable and value-for-money school fees which really, is all any parent can ask for.
PSA: There’s even a free trial class
That’s right – IFIS walks the talk by offering a free trial class. Happening every Thursday from 8.45am to 2pm, interested students can attend one or more of these four classes:
- English speech and drama
