How does a school stay relevant in a rapidly changing education landscape? Dover Court International unlocks its secret to a successful 50 years…
As we all know, the education landscape is ever-evolving. It takes a lot for a school to stay relevant and adapt to changes. So when we heard Dover Court International School is turning 50, we knew there’d be much to celebrate. Here, we uncover its path to success and share heartwarming recollections from its alumni.
When we think back to our own favourite school memories, it’s not the long hours of studying, but rather the friendships we made, the positive school culture and key moments that shaped us. For Dover Court International School students and teachers, it’s the inclusive ethos. Since its inception in Singapore in 1972, the school has welcomed students of diverse cultures, strengths and talents; offering an education that’s aligned to each individual and yields opportunities for both students and teachers.
The fully integrated curriculum is guided by clear values in a nurturing environment where students can excel in all aspects of their academic, social and personal growth. Of course, all this is set in a supportive and diverse community. It’s no wonder the alumni have only good things to say about their school.
Reminiscing about Dover Court International School
Past teachers take us down memory lane as they share their favourite moments…
“If I could wave a wand and make society behave ‘properly’ then it would mirror the playground of Dover Court Preparatory School, where I worked from 2012-2015. Children of all ages, abilities and individual needs playing together harmoniously, looking after each other, laughing and enjoying the sultry heat of a Singapore morning or lunchtime. Some extremely valuable global lessons to be learned from observations of children at play.”
“My time at Dover Court Preparatory School was one of the happiest in my life. DCPS, 1997, was an oasis of happiness for children shown every morning by the way they exploded off the light green buses of Goh Transport and sprinted up the steps.”
“There was so much thought and effort put into creating a community where everyone – students and teachers – could be the best they could be. Sometimes that meant meticulous attention to detail, other times, just embracing the fun of the child-led charity week.”
What a sweet and nostalgic journey! It’s great to see that Dover Court International School has maintained the same inclusive ethos and positive values within its diverse community throughout the storied 50 years. Here’s to more success ahead!
