If you’re planning a family holiday in Da Nang, choosing the right hotel can make all the difference. After staying at Courtyard by Marriott Da Nang Han River with my husband and our three children (two teenagers and a tween), we found it to be one of the strongest family-friendly choices in the city for travellers who want to explore Da Nang’s markets, riverside attractions and famous landmarks without spending their holiday in taxis. With spacious rooms, a rooftop pool, an outstanding breakfast buffet and easy access to the Dragon Bridge, Han Market, Hoi An, Ba Na Hills and the Marble Mountains, it’s excellent value for families visiting central Vietnam.

Yes! The lobby is genuinely smart, and the moment you step outside you’re in the thick of Da Nang’s markets, restaurants and river buzz — so you can explore on foot instead of wrangling everyone into taxis. If your family wants a beachfront resort with a kids’ club, this isn’t that (see how it compares to the beachfront Hyatt Regency Da Nang below); if you want a polished city base you can walk out of and straight into the action, it delivers.
Are the rooms big enough for a family?
The rooms are generous in size, polished and modern, giving everyone space to unpack and relax. We had two rooms, both with impressive views — one looking straight out at the iconic Dragon Bridge. It genuinely felt like we were in the centre of the city, a stone’s throw from everything.
The honest catch for families: there are no connecting rooms. With two teens and a tween that was fine for us — two separate rooms worked well — but if you’ve got younger kids and want a door between you, ask for adjacent rooms when you book and flag that you’re travelling as a family.
Service was excellent throughout: friendly, attentive and efficient without hovering.
What’s the breakfast buffet like for kids?
If you’re an early riser (or you have kids, so you are now), the breakfast buffet is a treat. It’s big but well organised, with Vietnamese classics, Western staples and a proper spread. Our family’s runaway favourite was the crispy fried banana — we ordered a second plate every single day.
There’s plenty for less adventurous eaters too, alongside local dishes if your kids are up for pho or noodles at 7am. One for the grown-ups: there’s a cheeky “hair of the dog” cocktail station at breakfast — a fun, only-on-holiday touch (and no, the teenagers did not go near it).
Beyond breakfast, the hotel has four dining spots. The Landmark Restaurant is the all-day venue, running from breakfast through to relaxed dinners. The Chill Bean does artisan coffee in a cosy corner, and The Lobby Lounge TWG Tea is the spot for a proper tea break. For a grown-ups’ night out, M45 Rooftop Bar and Omakase is the highest rooftop bar in central Da Nang, with panoramic views, Japanese omakase, cocktails and live music — one to book a sitter for (or delegate to the teens).
Is the rooftop pool good for kids?
Don’t miss a swim at the rooftop pool — the sweeping city views are the real selling point, and it’s a lovely spot to reset after a morning of sightseeing. It was quiet while we were there, though we visited in January, which is not exactly peak pool weather.
What can families do near the hotel?
The location was one of our favourite things about the stay. You’re right in the middle of Da Nang, walking distance from the famous Dragon Bridge and the Han River.
Hoi An with kids
Our kids loved Han Market, a two-storey local market with fresh fruit and street-food snacks downstairs and handbags, hoodies, silk scarves, lanterns and gifts upstairs. They came away thrilled with a haul of headphones, manga figurines and sneakers bring a bit of bargaining patience and small notes.
Further afield, our pick is Hoi An’s Old Town, about a 1-hour drive away — all lanterns and cobblestone streets, and a hit with kids. We did a three-hour cooking class at Breeze Restaurant that started with a basket-boat ride before we headed into the kitchen to make curries and pancakes. It was the perfect mix of action, fun, learning and eating (pancake-flipping results: mixed). Marble Mountain
There’s also the Marble Mountains, where we clambered through caves, mountains and temples, and the Insta-famous Ba Na Hills, home to one of the world’s longest cable cars, the Golden Bridge (the one held up by giant stone hands) and Fantasy Park’s rides and arcade games, all up in the cool mountain air. Kids and teens both rate it.
