With its very own Compassionate Systems Framework that teaches compassion and empathy, Dulwich College (Singapore) is deservedly the Gold Winner for this prestigious award...
We all know how important wellbeing is for our kids, especially during Covid times. So in this year’s Singapore Education Awards 2021, the Student Wellbeing Award is designed to celebrate a school that’s gone above and beyond in ensuring wellbeing is high on the agenda. Not just in terms of mental and physical health, but by nurturing a sense of purpose too. And the worthy winner, Dulwich (College) Singapore, does all of that and so much more. The British curriculum co-educational school caters for all ages and is proud to welcome over 50 nationalities through its doors. Here’s why our judges (and us!) think this school is tops when it comes to wellbeing…
Why Dulwich College (Singapore) won the Student Wellbeing Award
Dulwich College (Singapore) takes wellbeing seriously. So much so that they’ve created their very own Compassionate Systems Framework (a collab with MIT, no less). The framework has two core focuses. First up, a series of ‘’systems thinking tools’’ to help students work on their deep thinking skills to tackle complex issues. The second aspect is helping students to develop compassion and empathy. What does the framework look like in practice? One example is the school’s daily check-ins. These can be visual (where students can put their name next to an emotion), or small group discussions and even journalling!
Why we love Dulwich College (Singapore)
Dulwich College (Singapore) has the best of both worlds. It benefits from 400 years worth of expertise from its famous big sister, Dulwich College in London, yet it also strive to innovate to stand on its own. We love that Dulwich College (Singapore) seeks to create global citizens; this is reflected in its school mission: ‘Live Worldwise’. We also love the options offered to kids here – from picking a musical instrument to the freedom to find a sport that’s right for them. This inclusive nature creates a community feel that’s unique to Dulwich.
And psst! It’s not just in the wellbeing department that Dulwich College (Singapore) excels – they were also named a Silver Winner in three other awards: School with the Most Future Ready Students, School with the Best All-Round Facilities & Best Innovative Learning Environment. Yay!
