We love art. We love books. We even love fairs. And, we love the local family art collective Holycrap.sg, so we know exactly where we’ll be this Sunday, 17 April. The Singapore Art Book Fair (SABF), organized by one of our favourite bookstores, BooksActually, is back and this year it’s a family-friendly affair, with a live “Parents vs. Kids” game of Pictionary.
Themed “Cabinet of Curiosities”, this third edition of SABF at the ArtScience Museum (pop into Future World while you’re there, perhaps?) promises to be a goodie. Of course, there will be the usual three-day showcase of the best in local and international arts publishing, with books, magazines, zines and other new publications, plus film trailer screenings, workshops, and talks. It could just provide enough inspiration to go get that book published!
But the part that’s got us a tad excited here at HoneyKids is Holycrap.sg’s invitation to the families of Singapore to see them in action in a live “Parents vs. Kids” game of Pictionary. Holycrap.sg is a local family of four who publish ‘Rubbish Famzine’, which is a unique art project all about the challenges, rewards, and general tomfoolery that make up the glorious mess we call family. They’re a lovely bunch of people whose creativity knows no bounds, so if you pop along on Sunday you’re in for a laugh and a healthy dose of inspiration.
After throwing your best Pictionary guesses in the ring you can also learn a little something about urban gardening and plant therapy with Super Farmers, and of course, pick up a few of those lovely art books that got us all here in the first place. Admission is free, so off you pop to the ArtScience Museum this weekend!
Holycrap.sg’s Parents vs. Kids Pictionary Game is Sunday 17 April at 1pm, but they’re also running a stall throughout the SABF event (15-17 April).
