When everyone’s retreating to different corners of the house or Mum and Dad are exhausted from keeping up with the kids’ schedules, spending some time at Serangoon Gardens Country Club is like going on a family holiday without the need for a suitcase.
Looking for a country club in Singapore that keeps the entire family happy? Or desperately in need of a holiday but right now, organising one feels too hard so you might just hide under the couch? Here’s how we get the holiday vibe at home: Serangoon Gardens Country Club is the perfect family retreat and you’re invited to see why at their open house on 12 March. With an excellent range of facilities, workshops, activities and more catering for all ages, this club will restore the family’s balance in no time. In fact, can we come too?
So, where to start? In this town, the first stop has to be about cooling off, and Serangoon Gardens Country Club (SGCC) has no shortage of ways to take the plunge. There’s an Olympic-sized swimming pool, a kids’ wading pool, and a water playground with all sorts of fun to be had: with slides, swings, water guns, and four outdoor Jacuzzis, we’re not sure whether you or the kids will be the most entertained.
For fun times of the more educational kind, kids can check out a bunch of workshops in drama, science, dance, arts, and crafts that are offered all year round. Or for some straight-out energy-burning action, there’s a fantastic menu of sports programs for kids, including swimming, tennis, bowling, and martial arts, all taught by certified coaches. Kids can even choose to take their sporting aspirations to the next level with SGCC’s training development programs and tournaments. And when there’s just no more energy left to burn, little ones can retreat to the cosy indoor playroom full of toys and colourful play areas, and the bigger kids can chill out over a game of pool or the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 4.
While the kids are enjoying their much-needed ‘me’ time, parents can kick back and relax by the pool or chat over a coffee or a tasty meal at the outdoor cafe. If you start to feel a little attack of the guilts from all this R&R, you could always try a Zumba, Yoga, Piloxing (whether or not you know what that is), Powerstretch, or Bodyblast class. Or if that all sounds too much but the guilt is lingering, at least try to look like you’re making an effort by spending some time in the well-equipped gym. The friendly in-house trainers can give you a few tips on the most efficient exercises if you really just want to get back to the pool deck as quickly as possible. But really, there are no excuses not to get some exercise in this place, once you consider trying tennis, squash, bowling, billiards, and darts (we do use the term “exercise” loosely when it suits us around here).
A membership at Serangoon Gardens Country Club covers the entire familyˆ until the kids are 21 years old. If you sign up for the lifetime transferable membership during the open house there are some pretty special inclusions such as an iPhone or iPad, nail treatments, Trunki luggage, and credits to spend at the Club*. Memberships are also available on a one-year or two-year basis if that suits you better.
If you’re not shouting “where do I sign?” by now, perhaps you should pop along for a free goodie bag and a personalised tour of the Club during the Open House on 12 March, 10am-5pm.
