Raising kids in the digital age means that children’s developmental milestones are often tied to technology. Like it or not, living in a wired world of digital devices, gadgets and online information can bring an added difficulty to child-rearing (we know…as if the reality of having kids is not enough); however, not all hope is lost. While raising kids in the digital age may seem daunting, parents can get on top of the situation by learning how best to use technology to empower kids and as a powerful educational tool.
To shed some light on this new frontier of education, Singapore’s leading academic enrichment provider The Learning Lab has teamed up with First Code Academy (a leading education institute that teaches coding to kids), to present ‘Raising Kids in the Wired World’. Through a morning of discussions with top industry experts, parents will learn to manage kids’ digital activities as well as encourage digital literacy and computing skills.
Highlights from the panel
Panelists involved in the event include leaders in global tech companies as well as educators in primary and secondary technology subjects. One of the speakers is Michelle Sun, the CEO and founder of the event’s co-organisers, First Code Academy. Her impressive repertoire includes a career as an equity analyst and various technical roles in high-profile setups.
Another key speaker is Michael Pelletier, Head of Educational Technology, at the Canadian International School. An inspiring and cutting-edge leader, he has a formidable knowledge of current cultures and trends in technology and education, and is always presenting bigger (and better) ideas to translate to the classroom setting.
Also look forward to hearing from Gary Lim, Senior Partners In-Learning Director of Public Sector Group Microsoft Singapore. He engages with educators, government and policy leaders, to ensure all stakeholders are provided with the latest in education technology to enhance learning outcomes.

Raising Kids in the Wired World will be held on Saturday, 31 October, from 10am to 2pm at NTUC Centre, 1 Marina Boulevard, Room 903. Tickets are excellent value at $10 a pop so we’d recommend registering online for Raising Kids the Wired World now – slots are limited!
