With state of the art facilities where littlies are encouraged to take charge of their learning, it’s easy to see why kids simply love going to school at Nexus International School (Singapore)! Deputy Head of Primary & PYP Coordinator at Nexus, Paul Rimmer, shares with us all the details on what makes the school unique…
How many schools boast a treehouse? Not many! And it’s just one of the super-cool outdoor facilities at Nexus International School (Singapore’s) snazzy new campus. It’s no wonder exploring the outdoors is a favourite activity here. But it’s not just your typical outside play; Paul Rimmer tells us why getting outdoors is so important. “Going into the natural environment provides little learners with countless opportunities for discovery, creativity and problem-solving.’
The fun doesn’t stop once the kids head indoors, either. With its open classrooms, Nexus (Singapore) is all about innovative lessons. Young learners are encouraged to take charge of their learning, in line with the school’s Primary Years Programme (PYP) framework. This framework helps young learners understand how to take ownership and action, setting them up for success in the future.
And let’s not forget the team of highly skilled and experienced teachers at Nexus. Each teacher is trained to interact with learners through intentional questions, which supports play-based learning. Paul Rimmer explains why this is a priority at Nexus (Singapore). “Asking the right questions is important to guide learners; it helps them to inquire and explore their understanding of the world around them.” Pretty impressive stuff.
Keen to see Nexus’s unique approach to learning for yourself? You can, with its upcoming Open Days taking place on the 10 and 24 April! Besides seeing the fabulous facilities and meeting their lovely staff in person, if you apply on one of the Open Days, you’ll benefit from a 100% application fee waiver – hooray! So there’s never been a better time to visit. We’ll see you in the treehouse!
