Singapore, let's support breastfeeding: get behind the Big Latch-On, a synchronised nursing session organised by nursing gurus, Breastfeeding Mothers' Support Group...
While we are very much pro-feeding your baby however that works best for you AND bubba (#fedisbest after all), we also love any initiative that creates more support for breastfeeding mothers here in Singapore. Too often we hear of mums who have been shamed into covering up in public while simply trying to feed their babies. Not cool! We’ve already posed the question ‘is Singapore breastfeeding-friendly?’ and we love this annual event that normalises breastfeeding in everyday life: nursing mums of Singapore, you are all cordially invited to join the annual Big Latch-On synchronised breastfeeding event on 5 August 2017.
Without Breastfeeding Mothers’ Support Group (BMSG) it’s fair to say that our own breastfeeding trials and tribulations would have been much harder to bear (or bare!), so we’re well on board with its upcoming event, The Big Latch-On happening on 5 August, which is part of a global initiative to encourage nursing mums to feel confident about feeding in public. Expect a family-friendly picnic setting packed with activities for mothers including breastfeeding 101 chats with BMSG members and counsellors, baby-wearing demos and even a childbirth sharing session (ouch). There’s also a fun line-up for kids: play dough, balloon sculpting and story-telling are what’s happening, folks.
The event is free and is the perfect op to meet new friends, receive and share advice and, of course, nurse comfortably and happily in support of a breastfeeding-friendly Singapore.
When: 5th August 2017, 9am-11am
Where: 20 Upper Pickering St, Hong Lim Community Centre, Singapore 058284
