The fun doesn't stop when the sun goes down: with light shows, gourmet feasts, giant bunnies and live performances, who has time for sleep?
Can’t get enough of art for kids, museums and exhibits? Want more of the Children’s Biennale? Say no more with Singapore’s Civic District Outdoor Festival, organised by the National Gallery. For two weekends, 4–5 , 11–12 August 2017, 5pm till midnight, the Civic District will be transformed into a world ‘When Time Stood Still’ that every curious little eye and wandering explorer will delight in. Here’s what kids will love at this awesome outdoor festival.
Picnic with the bunnies
Once you’ve got that picnic basket stuffed to the brim, find a spot on the lush lawn of the Padang and lay out your feast on one of the mats provided. Enjoy a night time picnic in this city oasis and marvel at the works of Australian artist Amanda Parer and her art installation, INTRUDE (pictured top). We love a bit of Aussie art and the magical world she creates with her sculptures of the biggest bunnies anyone has ever seen will have the kids and adults spellbound.
Be whisked away into the magical narrative of “Hemera’s Dream”
Hemera and her brother, Aether, have a very important job. They need to keep the Cosmic Clock running so The Eternal City stays awake. But what happens when they both fall asleep and the clock stops? Follow this fantastic tale of their journey to save Time itself, a multimedia light show trail that runs across the National Gallery Singapore, The Arts House, Asian Civilisations Museum and Victoria Theatre and Victoria Concert Hall.
Satisfy cravings at Hemera’s Feast along St. Andrew’s Road
There’s sure to be something for anyone along this glorious Food Street of gourmet food from &Sons, Coco Loco, Courtyard Café, Kerbside Gourmet, Ninja Bowl and more! It’s everything we could ask for and more we’ve been meaning to try.
Dance the night away
The fun never stops with dance and music performances by local and international artists like Inch Chua, Nat Ho and one of Melbourne’s most highly regarded physical theatre ensembles, Born in a Taxi. Groove to a new beat every night with Dance X Music, whether it’s disco, Latin or even ska!
Performances for families
Get swept away on the adventure that is A Dragon Behind the Door by Cake Theatrical Productions and find out what happens when Mini and her father wake to find their house overrun with spotted beetles. Plus, kids will get to explore Curious Houses and take part in craft activities from dragon and puppet beetles to creating their very own mini pop-up theatre!
All worth staying up past bedtime, we say…
