Tanderra’s child-centred Prepare for School Programme will help your child develop essential skills and confidence for a better transition into preschool or primary school
Are you finding it hard to choose the right preschool in Singapore for your child? Aside from school fees and curriculum options, many parents wonder how to help their child enjoy a smooth transition into preschool or primary school. With so many early childhood learning centres in Singapore, selecting the right one is crucial in helping your child settle into school life. With its Reggio Emilia-inspired programme and engaging play ateliers, Tanderra’s Prepare for School Programme (PFSP) is specifically aimed at developing your little ones’ life skills to make that leap into school life an easy one.
A home away from home
Located amongst lush greenery and the tranquil scenery of Loewen Cluster at Dempsey Hill, Tanderra is a gorgeous, colonial-inspired retreat and a perennial favourite amongst families in Singapore. Inspired by its natural, beautiful surroundings, the school’s four play ateliers and outdoor piazza have been designed to nurture children’s innate curiosity and love for exploration. Each play atelier is divided into age-appropriate spaces and fosters different aspects of children’s development through sensorial learning, while the outdoor piazza encourages natural, peer interaction and positive relationships.
Where the child is the centre of learning
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia-inspired approach, Tanderra’s PFSP recognises children as capable of taking charge of their own learning and empowers them to make their own choices within the context of small groups. While there is no fixed curriculum, the programme emphasises the development of core life skills through hands-on exploration and following the children’s interests. Without the often rigid and overly formal structure of normal classrooms, children develop key life skills and the flexibility to transition better into structured classroom environments.
To prepare younger children for preschool, the curriculum will focus on helping the little ones gain independence and nurture self-help and communication skills. For older kids, preparing for primary school involves learning to improve concentration and communication skills and how to function within a group.
More about the Prepare for School Programme
Designed to support young children to transition better into preschool, the Prepare for School Programme accepts enrolments for children as young as 15 months old. Class ratios are kept small, at 1:3 for kids from 15 months to three years old and 1:5 for kids between three to six years old, to give each child the attention they deserve. The flexible and unique nature of PSFP also does not set a fixed start time, allowing parents and children the freedom of selecting drop off times.
