This Joint is Jumpin’
Kids bouncing off the walls at home? Let them do it for real at Amped, Singapore’s first indoor trampoline park. If an hour of flying around on 5,000 square feet of trampolines doesn’t use up that crazy kid energy, nothing will. We took a six-year-old tester to really put it through its paces.
Housed in a massive, light space above a hawker centre on Tanjong Katong, Amped was previously a martial arts wushu before it was transformed into bounce paradise. Walking into Amped, you’ll watch eyes bog out as the kids see wall-to-wall (plus ON the wall!) trampolines.
Amped on a Saturday afternoon was a wild, sweaty, fun-fest. Mini daredevils were climbing and jumping off foam towers, playing on the parkour walls and getting buried in the foam pits. Kids were dancing slash flying to pumping tunes like Village People’s ‘YMCA’ and a little old school hip hop. Fun!
Big and little bouncers were checking out some ridiculous moves from the staff at Amped. We spoke to co-owner Jason, who said his crew are ‘from wakeboarding, gymnastic and cheerleading backgrounds’ and this was clear from watching their wicked tricks. The crew were great with the kids too, helping some of them to try some seriously cool twists and tumbles.
What do the adults do?
Amped isn’t just for mini people. They have all ages sessions where even boring old grown ups can pretend to fly.
Don’t feel like getting your bounce on? No problems, there are plenty of comfy armchairs to watch the kids in peace.
Is it safe?
Jason says, “safety at Amped is their number one priority”, and he conducts a safety briefing each morning. Jason always has two crew members on the tramps and they are strict about their 30 jumpers maximum, per session. We witnessed one mini mishap during our bounce and the crew dealt with it quickly and calmly. Jason says the crew are first aid trained but will always get professional help if in doubt.
OK, details please!
Amped can get busy so to avoid walk-in meltdowns, book online. Admission is $15 for an hour and includes a bottle of water. Believe us, they’ll need it. It is an all ages centre, but check the website as they do have separate sessions for littlies and older kids to maximise safety. Socks are required. Non-slip grip socks are best and they sell them for $3 if you haven’t got your own. Normal socks are a bit slippery on the tramps.
Sounds like a good party place?
Yep, for sure. They do take group bookings for parties and you can bring your own drinks and cake. Amped doesn’t have a separate party room or kitchen so keep things simple. You can also book the whole place out. Jason is happy for party peoples to bring in whatever they like, think catering, AV setups, magicians, whatevs. Just clean up afterwards.
Final verdict?
Our tester Stanley declared it “the coolest place ever”.
