Keep your hands free (and on your kids) and get one-up on the mum game with our latest Find of the Week.
Mums, raise your hand if you’re always losing your phone. After all, when you’re lugging around a huge tote filled to the brim with snacks, extra nappies, educational toys, the odd runaway raisin and your own personal items, fishing around for your phone could prove to be a problem. And that’s why when we discovered Singapore-label Besbes, it was a total game-changer. Finally, a phone accessory that’s cute enough to wear all the time and is super useful – we were sold!
Instead of sticking our phones in our back pockets (don’t sit on it or drop it in the loo!) or frantically searching the cavernous depths of our mum bags, our phones are now always within easy reach thanks to the Besbes phone necklace. And that’s really handy especially if you’re like us and always ‘gramming or snapping photos and videos of your kids. We had a chat with Audrey Lim, the founder of Besbes, to find out more about our new most favourite thing in the world and how she came up with the concept.
Hi Audrey! We’re loving Besbes! Where did the idea come from?
I work in the retail industry in sourcing and logistics, so every year I clock in about three to four sourcing trips. During one of my trips to Guangzhou, I realised I’d brought way too many things in my bag. I needed my phone and I couldn’t find it! Thinking I’d lost my phone, I emptied out the contents of my bag onto the floor in a frenzy and found my phone deep inside my bag… and ended up leaving my passport on the floor!
I figured there had to be a better way to carry our phones because these things cost as much as a laptop and have all our private information on, not to mention the photos that make up the memories. I’m also an avid photographer and hate to miss important opps. These are the reasons that prompted me to start Besbes.

Did you ever think about how useful this phone case would be for mums?
I’m super excited that mums have found them so handy! To be honest, when I first received the prototypes, I handed them to my friends to test them. They were new mums and their children were both less than a year old. They loved it and before the site was up, their own mum friends were reaching out to know how they could preorder. It was really exciting!
What if our kids chew on the necklace?
We put in A LOT of effort to make sure that the necklace gets non-toxic certified (OEKO-TEX) and that the parts are assembled together properly to ensure that nothing drops off.
What styles are available?
The phone necklaces are attached securely to a transparent TPU case and are available in 12 colourways to suit a wide variety of style preferences. They’re lightweight, water-resistant (read: drool-proof!) and durable, which makes it perfect for #mumlife. You can use it as a regular necklace or slung around your shoulders crossbody style – whichever way you choose.
How do I get my hands on one?
Available for $27, Besbes phone necklaces are sold online at www.besbes.co and at selected stockists islandwide. It’s also compatible with a wide range of iPhone and Android models.
Thank you, Audrey!
