The Breastfeeding Mothers’ Support Group (Singapore) is proud to present a talk for mothers by a pioneering lactation consultant and medical historian Maureen Minchin.
Minchin is a breastfeeding advocate who has delved into the world of infant feeding and breastfeeding significantly at the highest level since the 1970s. She has also written many game-changing books including Food for Thought (1982-1992) and Breastfeeding Matters (1985-1998), which have been influential worldwide. Her latest book is Milk Matters: Infant feeding and Immune Disorder. This multi-disciplinary text argues that a milk hypothesis encompasses the hygiene hypothesis, and documents the many risks and harms of artificial feeding, while also providing practical strategies for parents struggling with the unhappy food-hypersensitive babies common in communities where formula feeding is entrenched.
Minchin will be talking about the impact of infant feeding and its consequence on the epidemics that have burdened generations, including obesity, allergy, autism and diabetes. All families are welcome.
