Singapore celebrates Grandparents’ Day this weekend.
Head to the museum with your grandparents, revisit how their personal memories bring the artefacts to life and create new memories together by taking part in the specially curated programmes.
Project ARTISAN Showcase & Clay Art-making, 10am to 5pm
This selection of artworks was created by youth-senior pairs, who share personal stories of love, courage and resilience through their artistic expressions. From 12 to 3pm, ARTISAN facilitators from Nanyang Technological University will also be on hand to help you create your own masterpiece using air-dry clay, while stocks last.
Memories Through the Lenses by HCA Hospice Care, Young Caregivers (yCG) Programme, 10.30am – 12.30pm
Go on journey of self-discovery through a series of short films depicting intergenerational relationships within the family. These student-made films celebrate the love and dedication of grandparents and touch on various eldercare issues in Singapore, including dementia and lack of empathy. Share smiles and tears as you share their joys, struggles and realisations of what truly matters.
Don’t miss the chance to meet the tertiary-level student film-makers from the 聽 . Hear and Now short film competition as they discuss their inspirations for these films. You can also write a message to your loved ones on postcards and pledge cards to express your appreciation to them on Grandparents’ Day!
Admission is free. Visit tinyurl.com/ycgfilmscreening to register – the first 20 families will receive a goodie bag!
Check out the programmes above, and many more at the National Museum of Singapore on 24 November 2018.
