Exclusively available on the ninth and tenth lunar months, the hairy crab is an autumn delicacy renowned for its sweet flesh and luscious golden roe. From 1 to 30 November 2022, enjoy these seasonal delights at Yàn, available on the a la carte menu or as part of a delightful six-course set menu ($168++; minimum two persons).
The key highlight for the season is to enjoy the traditional steamed hairy crab ($98++ per 220g crab) served with minced ginger and vinegar – showcasing the natural sweetness of the prized crustacean’s succulent flesh.
To commemorate Yàn’s seventh anniversary, the steamed live hairy crab is also featured in their anniversary set menu along with other complementary dishes such as steamed cod fillet with fermented bean paste and signature wok-fried spare ribs with dang gui. Pan-fried carrot cake topped with hairy crab meat and roe highlights the delicate sweetness of the delicate crab meat and crab roe.
As the coveted crustaceans are believed to be ‘cooling’ for the body, it is recommended to enjoy them paired with the eight-year-old Shao Hsing rice wine ($78++ per 750ml bottle). The Chinese wine, served warm, will help to balance the body’s vital energy.
Revel in a spread of hairy crab specialities available daily for dine-in at Yàn during lunch and dinner (11.30am to 2.30pm; 6 to 10pm) from 1 to 30 November 2022.
