You may be thinking that the kids just went back to school, but in reality the little darlings have half-term fast approaching: yes, folks, the October autumn school holidays are looming! Local schools already had their seven days of school holiday fun back in September, and now the international schools are all set for their October break. So if you are not flying off with the kids to a beautiful short holiday from Singapore, or, sadly, will not be chilling out at an exciting new Asian destination, then you are definitely going to need some cool stuff to do with the kids to fill those (long) days! Read on for seven action-packed adventures to try, and don’t forget to check out HoneyKidsGo for even more sanity-saving activity ideas!
Day One: Make a splash with a day of wet adventures
It’s hot here in Singapore, and cooling off sometimes takes more than just a quick ice-cream fix, which is why we say make the most of the sunshine and have some wild and wet adventures with your water babies. Head over to one of the amazing local swimming pools for slides galore and the most fun you can have for under $10, make a splash at a fun and free water playground, or take your small pirates to walk the plank at Port of Lost Wonder as part of a day out at Sentosa.
Day Two: Catch your own dinner with some fishing fun
Continuing the watery theme, how about reeling in dinner with a spot of fishing? Rent a rod, hook on your bait, and try your luck at one of the prawning spots in Singapore. We love Fish at Big Splash over on the East Coast Park, where little hands can get busy lonkang fishing while you bag the prawns!
Kids age four and up may well fancy a day on the ocean, so check out the Beginners Angler courses at My Fishing Frenzy over at HoneyKidsGo, for some aquatic adventures the whole family will love!

Day Three: Chill out with cats and curl up with a book
How’s this for getting that warm and fuzzy feeling? We are loving the pet cafes around Singapore as the purr-fect place to pet a moggy, or hang out with a hound (plus it’s an instant fix for the “can I have a pet?” demands). Spend a morning with the furries, and then continue your mellow by checking out one of Singapore’s fabulous libraries for a story or two with your little bookworms.
Day Four: Get arty and crafty at home
By day four of all that adventuring, your feet and your wallet may need a bit of a rest so we say spend the day creating your own fun at home! Halloween is just around the corner so check out these great Halloween activity ideas with an educational twist, and if you are still keen for more craft project ideas for the holidays, then how about a dinosaur jungle terrarium, potato print cushions or even a mini-holiday in a jar?
Day Five: Take a day trip to Coney Island
Hands up who has been to Coney Island? Yep, just as we thought: this hidden gem still remains relatively unknown and yet makes a great alternative to the tried-and-tested easy way of life over at Pulau Ubin. Hire bikes, pack and picnic, and spend the day enjoying new adventures on this beautiful little patch of green. Make sure to read our HoneyKids’ Guide to Coney Island before discovering nature at it’s unspoilt best for yourself.
Day Six: Check in to Changi Airport for a whole day of fun
You don’t have to be dashing off to somewhere exotic to have fun at Changi Airport: this place is a treasure trove of great activities to keep the boredom at bay for kids of all ages. Check out our guide to all the adventures to be had at Changi Airport before riding the skytrain, whizzing down Singapore’s biggest slide, and hanging out with Mr Bean!
Day Seven: Get cultural with some quintessentially Singaporean must-sees
From Haw Par Villa to a trishaw ride around the bustling Chinatown neighbourhood, there are heaps of cool cultural outings the kids will love around the Lion City. Don’t forget to swing by to Lau Pa Sat for lunch and work your way through the must-try local eats!
