Hippos on the moon, fireworks in Chinatown and primates at the reservoir: it's all happening in our top 10 for this weekend...
We’re still on a high from our F1 up-close to Duran Duran moments last weekend, so whatever we do this weekend it’s got some serious expectations to live up to! Luckily we have our next HoneyKids Family FunDays event to look forward to (all RSVP slots are now booked up: thank you, readers! Don’t forget to sign up for our newsletter to stay in the loop for future events). We’re also excited about a rather cool slumber party, a festival with obligatory inflatables, Mid Autumn festivities and a rather gluttonous food affair…
1. Race your way to family fame and glory
Put your family fitness to the test at the Family Fun Race @ Science Centre. Held in tandem with Science Centre Singapore’s 40th anniversary, you’ll need a sharp mind and lightning-fast reflexes to complete the challenges in the shortest time possible to bag some cool prizes (and all the glory!).

One of our fave spots for entertaining the kids in Singapore (we recently had a great time there at our Dream Team Talks event) is throwing a second birthday party, and we’re all invited. Join the Playeum Slumber Party for storytelling, craft, Taiko drumming, snacks and a ton of play (but no actual slumbering). Suitable for kiddos aged five to 12 years.

4. Illuminate your weekend at Gardens by the Bay
Be prepared to be wowed by the Garden’s largest lantern display yet: Waters of Prosperity spans a whopping 1250 square metres over the water! Autumn abundance is this year’s theme, which sets the scene for lantern displays symbolic of bountiful harvests and good fortune. There will also be nightly cultural performances, a food street featuring delicious Asian delights, and Fun Zone where you’ll find craft booths offering cool activities like lantern decorating, umbrella painting and Chinese knotting.
When: 22 September to 8 October, various timings
Where: Gardens by the Bay
Cost: Free and ticketed events

5. Eat, drink and be merry at a FamFest
Known for being (in our opinion) one of the best kid-friendly cafés, Café Melba is ramping up the fun-factor with its first FamFest. Expect music, food, drinks, shopping and a massive field for the kids to run around in (complete with inflatables!). Bring it on!

6. Blast off into space for a hilarious puppet adventure
We’ve long had a giant soft spot for British children’s author, David Walliams, and his hysterically funny stories, so can’t wait to catch the puppet adaptation of The First Hippo on the Moon staged by award winning theatre company, Les Petits.
When: 22-24 September, various timings
Where: SOTA Drama Theatre, 1 Zubir Said Drive, 227968

7. Hang out with the macaques of Bukit Timah
This free, fun and informative walk is suitable for kids aged eight and up, and will be led by experts from the Jane Goodall Institute Singapore. The guided adventure around Bukit Timah Nature Reserve will have you re-thinking your opinions of these cheeky characters by teaching you about the social world they inhabit, their family networks, power struggles and day-to-day lives.
When: 23 September, 5-6.30pm
Where: Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, BTNR Visitor Centre’s Front Courtyard
Cost: Free but registration should be made via email at [email protected] at least three days in advance.
