Tiger Car Workshop with R22e
Sat 29 Oct – Sun 30 Oct
3pm and 5pm
The Tiger Car was conceptualised by marketing genius and business tycoon Aw Boon Haw as an innovative marketing tool for his Tiger Balm empire. Through the 20s and 30s, these cars prowled the streets of Singapore, turning heads wherever they went.
While none of the original Tiger Cars remains, you’ll be taken through the restoration of an authentic 1925 Buick which was remodelled to resemble the Tiger Cars of old.
Take a peek into its inner gears and get the chance to sound the horn and turn the keys to hear the engine go! Dress up in your best roaring 20s outfit and pose next to this authentic 1925 Buick for the ultimate blast to the past!
NEW! In this edition of the Tiger Car Workshop, you’ll also get the chance to see Singapore’s first electric race car, the R22e, up close and personal.
The R22e was built by Engineering students from the National University of Singapore’s Formula SAE team. At 208.2kg, the R22e is lighter than Singapore’s earliest cars, but it can zip from 0 to 100km/hr in just 3.9s, and attain a top speed of 125.4km/hr.
See it in person next to the Tiger Car this weekend and witness the evolution of car engineering!
