Holiday hangs with the fam sorted: head over to ArtScience Museum for sneaky bedtime excursions, cool exhibitions plus a Christmas movie!
With the kids out of school and Christmas so close we can almost smell the pumpkin pie, we’re definitely psyched about all things holiday. The best part? Our fave museum, ArtScience Museum over at Marina Bay Sands, is feeling all kinds of festive too! From 1 December 2020 onwards, it’ll have super surprises that’ll keep the kids busy and engaged throughout the hols. We’ve got the full deets on the whole shebang below!
Stay up past your bedtime with ArtScience Museum
Now, we’re usually pretty strict when it comes to following a bedtime schedule, but the folks at ArtScience Museum are making us rethink things through. From 1 December, visitors can enjoy later Friday and Saturday nights at ArtScience Museum, which means more time for double the fun. And there’s a lot of fun to be had (don’t forget to use your SingapoRediscover vouchers – three exciting exhibitions from just $21? Awesome!)…here’s what you can expect…
Sketch Christmas at Future World: Where Art Meets Science
We can’t get enough of teamLab’s Future World and we’re pretty excited about Sketch Christmas (pictured up top), which is basically Christmas, teamLab style. We’re talking cutting-edge magical fun! Watch your hand-coloured drawings (and yes mum and dad, you can join in the colouring fun too!) come alive in a cute festive town with flying colourful sleighs, reindeers, and of course, Old Saint Nick himself.
Planet or Plastic?
There’s never been a better time to get the kids learning about the environment. Through the Planet or Plastic? exhibition, they’ll get the lowdown on the global plastic pollution crisis via powerful photographs by National Geographic. It explores the plastic pollution of our world’s oceans and uncovers how untold numbers of our marine friends die each year from ingesting microplastics. Yup, it’s really powerful stuff, so be prepared to teach the kids about the 4 R’s when you’re done (reuse, reduce, recycle, refuse single-use plastics!).
Margins: drawing pictures of home
Give the kids a mini-anthropology lesson with Margins: drawing pictures of home, an exhibition featuring work from 15 contemporary photographers that touches on some important issues for Singapore during these uncertain times.
They’ll love pointing out familiar landscapes and people! Take this opportunity to teach them to explore their hopes and dreams for Singapore, and examine the stories that help us define these places we call home. Through this experience, they’ll be able to reflect on the lives of those who have worked hard to make Singapore what it is today.
Have A Very Moomin Christmas with the fam
