What’s on in Singapore this week for kids? 5 November 2018

Kid-approved activities to try this week: 14 May
With a mid-week holiday, we're convinced only good things can happen this week. We've got lots of lovely ideas for the public holiday and beyond.

We know it’s not actually a surprise, but is anyone else shocked that it’s November? That means that Santa is coming next month. And the month after that it’ll be 2019! OK, enough with the scare tactics, let’s focus on this week and what’s happening. Of course, there is a mountain of activity on for the whole family and we are PUMPED for fun, thanks to a mid-week public holiday.

1. Celebrate Deepavali

Look no further for plans for the public holiday tomorrow. If you’re motivated enough to leave the sofa, check out our top ten ideas for Deepavali fun. Our faves? For the brave (non-claustrophobic) families, head into Little India to feel the colourful Deepavali vibe and for everyone else, head to the Istana (official residence of Singapore’s president) for the perfect blend of culture, history and outdoorsy fun.

2. Gardens by the Bay goes all Christmassy

And so the Christmas festivities begin. The lights on Orchard Road are already going up (there’s some contention at HoneyKids HQ about the Disney theme…your thoughts?) and Tanglin Mall has unveiled its display already. So, Gardens by the Bay is joining the early Christmas festivities with its Disney Tsum Tsum display in the Flower Dome. You can expect an enchanting snowy landscape, featuring over 40 Disney Tsum Tsums, 8,000 poinsettias, Christmas berries, holly and, of course, Christmas trees. On display until 6 January, this is the perfect way to kick off the Christmas season!

3. Meet the macaques of MacRitchie

We don’t think the sight of seeing macaques in the wild will ever get old. Take the kids on an adventure to find out more about these long-tailed cuties from experts from the Jane Goodall Institute Singapore. You’ll learn about their social structures of kin networks, power struggles, friends and foes as you walk the beautiful MacRitchie trail. You need to register for this free event, which is taking place on Saturday 10 November at 5pm.

4. Geronimooooo!

If you’ve got a primary-aged child, there’s a high likelihood they’re fans of this cheeky chap. The name’s Stilton. Geronimo Stilton. The popular children’s book hero, Geronimo Stilton is back in Singapore with this musical adventure, featuring cool 3D effects. In this latest adventure, Geronimo sets off on a fantastical quest to save the Queen of Fairies and along the way has to face witches, mermaids, dragons, pixies, gnomes and a giant! Geronimo Stilton Live In The Kingdom Of Fantasy is playing at MES Theatre this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

5. Get your cash at the ready, the Boutique Fair is back!

Great shopping? Check. Delicious coffee? Check. Children’s play area? Check. Boutiques Fair is back and it just keeps getting better…more vendors and and a streamlining of what shoppers really want. This November sees the Boutique Fair return with its Gifting Edition and as the name implies, it’s the perfect opportunity to stock up on Christmas goodies for the whole family. No more schlepping from mall to mall – you can knock over your Christmas shopping in one spot. Boutique Fairs Singapore’s Gifting Edition is on this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
