Is it us, or is Monday not nearly so painful today, what with it being such a short week ‘n’ all? And with not one but two public holidays to make the most, we’ve got lots of cool plans for fun activities with the kiddos…
1. Bring the cinema to your home
If you want to avoid the crowds this Chinese New Year, we say celebrate the Year of the Pig by grabbing bucketloads of CNY snacks, snuggling down with your little piglets and having a movie fest entirely made up of these fabulous pig-themed films!
2. Work off those pineapple tarts
Once you’re done scoffing all that bakkwa as well as your body weight in pineapple tarts, gather the troops for a fun workout in the Botanic Gardens! Book your spot for the awesome Mom in Balance Mom x Dad x Kids workout on Wednesday 6 February at 9.30am. Our advice? Pack a picnic and make a day of it.
3. Take a peak around the President’s house
The Istana is throwing open its doors to the public for the second day of Chinese New Year (Wednesday), and we’re all invited for a nose around Singapore’s most famous home and office. Visitors can take a tour around the main building, and also join a guided walk through the gardens for the chance to learn some history in a gorgeously green setting.
4. Dazzle the fam at the River Hongbao
The River Hongbao is back bigger and brighter than ever! Head on down for dazzling performances, traditional handicraft stations, a carnival with rides, game stalls and workshops suitable for kiddos of all ages. Refuel at Food Street and if the kids are not too worn out from all that fun, stay for the fireworks and laser shows happening every night. It’s on until 10 February, people.
5. Countdown to CNY with the kids
Usher in the Year of the Pig with awesome family-friendly live performances, music, games, firecrackers and fireworks at a street party we’re all invited to: the Countdown to CNY Party around Chinatown. It’s happening TONIGHT from 9.30pm.
