It’s the third week of school holidays, in local schools, but we’re not counting. With the Trump-Kim summit upon us, it might be difficult dodging road closures and police checks to get around town, but there’s still plenty of things to do while steering clear of the hullaballoo…
1. Spend the day with dad
Father’s Day coming up fast, and we think that us mums need a break and that the kiddos should be hanging out with dad. Need ideas? We’ve got a whole guide to dad days out for you to plan that perfect day. Mum, take yourself off for a facial while the rest of the gang are busy.
2. Pay a visit to the Science Centre
Fancy getting sciencey this week? Head over to the Singapore Science Centre where you’ll find new shows happening in the Omni-theatre and a revamped KidsStop including Singapore’s first ever science for toddlers sessions. Little ones (and big ones) will love experimenting with food, slime and even coding all the name of science.
3. Go museum-hopping
Children’s Season is in full-swing and we’ll be whipping up a quick guide to all the museum-offerings for this season very soon. In the meantime, here’s our guide to all the family-friendly museums and exhibits happening right now.
4. Dinos, dinos, Chris Pratt, more dinos…
We watched Jurassic World at the new Filmgarde Cineplex in the recently reopened Century Square Mall in Tampines. Our verdict for Chris Pratt et al? A solid 8 out of 10 from us. The movie featured Asia’s first AuroMax immersive 3D sound multiplex which, deciphered into easy terms, means there are speakers on every available surface (including the ceiling!) to create three layers of sound. The new cinema was also a big hit – the seats were super comfy and we love that it offers special family seating for two adults and two kiddos. A word of warning: It was chockablock when we went, even though it was a weekday evening – definitely plan to go in the day. Otherwise, Plaza Singapura has a special Jurassic World Experience happening for those craving a more immersive dino experience.
5. Tower over Singapore’s monuments
Who doesn’t love miniature cities? Pop down to the Central Public Library from 7 to 30 June to play Godzilla among famous Singapore monuments recreated entirely in Lego. This travelling exhibition will feature favourites such as Thian Hock Keng Temple, Central Fire Station and St Andrew’s Cathedral, (standing as tall as your bub at 1.1m!).
