We share our picks of the best travel apps for booking, researching and organising your trip, plus apps to make life easier at your destination.
All set for an awesome holiday with the kids? If you’ve missed out on this National Day long weekend, don’t forget to keep an eye on other holidays coming up in 2019 and get planning in the last stretch of the year. Don’t forget to download these handy apps to help you get through booking everything right up to the fun part: exploring a new city!
Top tip: If you’re using your internet browser to look for tickets, remember that websites store data based on how frequently you visit them. So if you’re waiting for a better price, it’s worth clearing your cache before diving in a second time, or go incognito (otherwise, you could end up paying more).
1. Cozi Family Organizer
There’s a lot to take care of before you travel so get yourself organised with this handy app. Sync up the family’s appointments on one calendar, then tick off the to-do list and shopping with a flick of the finger. You’ll have the trip booked, suitcases packed, pet-sitting sorted and everyone at the airport in no time.

4. Airbnb
If you’re looking for something a little less hotel and a little more local, Airbnb is your best bet. Whether you’re looking for a tidy serviced apartment in the heart of the city or a little cottage by the sea, you’re sure to find your home away from home. Plus, you can book travel experiences and get a local’s recommendations on the best sight-seeing locations and restaurants to visit.

5. Netflix
You can’t leave home without Netflix. If you’re not already subscribed, you should be. Long journeys are perfect for binge-watching all the shows you’ve been meaning to devour while the kids get lost in a few family flick faves (or, Peppa. Enough said).

6. Google Translate
This app is a must-have when going to non-English-speaking countries to save you the embarrassment of asking for a room instead of a bowl of soup, ‘yi wan duo shao?’ (being bilingual sure does come in handy at these times). There’s even a feature that translates text in photos, or you can just point your camera at a sign and let Google Translate do the rest.

7. AccuWeather
Don’t let the rain spoil your day. Stay up to date on the weather forecast anytime, anywhere with AccuWeather (also available as a widget on Android). It reports the weather based on GPS location and forecasts the temperature and weather for every two-hour interval.

8. Uber
Getting around in a foreign country can be tricky. Luckily we have the marriage of technology and taxis to solve that little problem for us. You’ll be relieved to know that Uber’s available in more than 700 cities worldwide and you can still pay with either cash or credit, so there’s no need to fumble with foreign cash.
