20 Cool Kids Classes, Part 1
Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the hippest of them all? Why, you are, Honey! Whether your kids are groovin’ to the music, or you’ve got a junior tekkie on your hands, we’ve got the creative license you’re looking for. Kid tested, mother approved classes for superstars-in-the-making top our lists here in the first (of a two part series) collection of totally awesome kids classes in Singapore. Because learning is cool, kids.
1. Higher learning.
At The Rock School, your little social climber will learn the basics to get a leg up on life. Start off with A,B…C’s for Climbing (fun climbing class) for beginners, or take it a step higher with Step Up for those wishing to deepen their climbing skills.

2. Super Chef.
Want to train with a pro? “Chef in Black” Emmanuel Stroobant is on hand with a little bit of wok and roll to transform culinary cuties into gastro geniuses. Spending a week at Camp Asia’s Super Chef puts the cap’n back in cook. You will never, ever have to beg for help in the kitchen again!

3. Get to the pointe.
Wanna dance? Tanglin Arts Academy has it all: ballet, hip hop, tap, jazz, freestyle, even glee, and cheerleading! Billy Elliots in the making can have their turn with boys-only classes.They even have a shortened Zumba class for kids too. Ages from 2.5 years and upwards.

4. Trampoline dreams.
In the ups and downs of our daily lives, at least there’s somewhere the kids can bounce off the walls. Singapore’s first indoor trampoline park, AMPED, offers 5000 square feet of interconnected trampolines to get up, get up, and get down! Although most activities at AMPED include free-time bounce, AMPED has brought on an instructor (starting next week – get your booking now!) to aid kids from 3 to 12 in the art of the trampoline. Classes are $350 for 10 and serve ages 3 to 5, 6 to 9, and 9 to 12.

5. Pinky-up, Princess!
Although The Tiara Society boasts being the only princess themed club house on the Island, they are also the only social club to offer unique etiquette sessions through The Tiara Society Academy. Teaching noble little ladies the art of dining, phone etiquette, manners, sharing skills, and image portrayal are only some of the modules on offer at the Academy. Ages 3 to 15.

6. Tumbling For ‘Ya.
Holy rollers as young as 1 year old can hit their mark at Bubbles Gymnastics. Focusing on developing skills and strength in a fun environment, Bubbles hosts Olympic sized equipment, and even has trampoline programs for kids 3 and above.

7. Enter the Dragon.
Unleash your inner monkey king at Children’s Art Theatre’s Chinese Speech & Drama courses. Kids as young as 3 are immersed within the world of Chinese culture, heritage, art, and dance, expressing themselves with classic physical training. Creative writing courses for the primary school posse are on hand for older kids.

8. Rugby for rugrats.
New kid on the block, Sport4Kids, gets kids as young as 18 months in the game with supportive coaching techniques and physical challenges to reflect the player’s abilities. Not only offering rugby, Sport4Kids is putting on a full court press with other sports activities such as basketball, tennis, soccer and mini-sports. 9. Smooth moves.
So you’ve got a jittery junior on your hands in need of some R&R, what better way to help focus on calm within than through the meditative, but physical, exercise known as tai chi. At New Age Tai Chi, classes are kept smaller to hone individual skills, empowering youngsters in this ancient martial art.

10. Rock Out.
Mini-Dylans and baby Bonhams channel their inner rock god with training programs at Academy of Rock. Getting students jamming once they step through the door, AOR’s performance based curricula brings even the shyest of rock stars out of their shell.

11. Act naturally.
Nurturing quick thinking and encouraging self-expression, Act 3 Drama Academy takes the average kid and turns him into a shining star! Drama mamas take note: Act 3 also offers programs for tots as young as 18 months old.

12. That sew cute!
Who’d a thought that your sweet little seamstress wanted to clothe the entire family? At Impressions Art Studio, kids 8 years old and up learn the ins-and-outs of using a sewing machine, including stitching techniques, to create fab one-of-a-kind pieces. Machines and equipment are provided.

13. Get to the core.
Petites glean the art of body awareness through Singapore’s first kid’s pilates courses. Developing strength and perfecting postural alignment, Pilates Bodyworks will not only help develop confidence in your young ‘uns, they will learn valuable techniques for healthy living.

14. Budding Beauties.
Girls aged 7 to 13 revel in flower power, creating floral arrangements over 1.5 hour workshops. Psst. They come directly to your door, so girlies can design headpieces or floral masterpieces where everything comes up roses!

15. Keep rollin’.
Swizzle sweethearts, set your wheels on fire for Skate-With-Us’s skating classes. Tykes from 3 years and upward can savour their skating savvy superpowers in basic, intermediate, and advanced classes. 16. The Young and The Restless.
Tired of your little monkey climbing the walls? Enter Circus Swingapore’s Circus Arts Program, where your fab 4s and above are encouraged to float though the air with the greatest of ease. 17. Muddy Mayhem.
The guys over at Centaur Sports know how to get their hands dirty. Take a look at their famous The Pit, an obstacle course in the mud, where kids get their dose of dirty deeds. Aside from this muddy mayhem, Centaur Sports also offers sports camps that include ultimate Frisbee, rugby, canoeing, Combat Skirmish, and more. Older kids can also take advantage of their residential kids camps on Bintan Island.

18. Surf’s up, dudes!
Beach kids can treat themselves in the art of surf with Wavehouse Sentosa’s Flowrider programs. Surfers over 107cm can ride, learning board techniques with the pros. Kids can even opt for private surf lessons, where parents are privately chauffeured by buggy to enjoy the afternoon sipping drinks during the littlies’ splash sesh.

19. Not the last samurai.
If your tyke is tired of taekwando, perhaps you should introduce him to Evolve MMA’s Little Samurai Program for kids. Developed by a Harvard grad, the Little Samurai Program takes the best from Brazilian Ju-Jitsu, Muay Thai, and other martial arts to foster confidence in kids. 20. Petite Putonghua.
MandarinaKids offers weekly excursions to immerse kiddos in Mandarin language while engaged in real-life situations. One week’s excursion may feature supermarket smarts, another week you’ll have a trip to the zoo.
