Festivals galore, a swim carnival and a sound maze are all happening this weekend!
This weekend marks the beginning of local school holidays, so we’re really ramping up the fun to keep the little darlings busy, happy and – by the end of it – worn out! With so many festivals, art and craft workshops and theatre on the radar in Singapore right now, we’ve got 10 awesome things to do with kids of all ages to get the party started.
1. Bring your tots to a festival designed for small people
The second instalment of ACT3i Festival for Children kicks off this weekend with plenty of fun for babies and tots up to around age five years. Expect six awesome theatre performances from around the globe (this weekend it’s ‘Paperbelle’), and some pretty cool workshops too.

2. Go on a treasure hunt around Chinatown
Here’s a fabulous excuse to head to Chinatown with the kiddos: A fun-filled Sunday morning with storytelling, a treasure hunt and plenty of activities for the whole gang! Kickstart the adventure at the Chinatown Heritage Centre with the Go Trishaw Go storytelling session with Mr Francis Wong Hooe Wai, and listen out for clues before you go on a treasure hunt in the area with your maps.

3. Find out what a sound maze is…
Enter an immersive and interactive sonic and visual world of sound, featuring over a dozen newly invented musical instruments and sound sculptures! Unleash your inner musician in the Sound Maze by Paul Dresher (inventor and composer) and Daniel Schmidt (builder and designer) – perfect for kiddos of all ages! Open your ears and your minds before exploring, playing and creating.

4. Prepare to be wowed by Cirque de Soleil
Be transported into the world of ‘Pandora’ in this visually stunning display by Cirque de Soleil, inspired by James Cameron’s record breaking movie, Avatar. AVATAR, TORUK – The First Flight, is a storytelling odyssey through a never seen before world of imagination and discoveries. We can’t wait!

5. Find out how Han Solo met Chewie…
Solo: A Star Wars Story is hyperspacing to Singapore cinemas this weekend in a brand new tale from the ever-popular Star Wars franchise. Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away for an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. This is also the movie where we get to see how Han met Chewbacca!

6. Catch free performances for little ones
Visit The Artground for a 10 day festival – 100 and 100 More – which features a heap of cool art installations, performances, workshops and other fringe activities designed to encourage busy wee minds to get creative and think beyond the box. We got a sneak peak of one of this weekend’s performances, Into the Blue Forest, which was a resounding interactive hit with our six-year old mini-reporter!

7. Make your weekend an animated one!
Enter a world of animation at the Animate Your Life festival which will see Gardens by the Bay’s Bayfront Plaza transform into a world of cartoons! Take on an obstacle course in Ben 10 Boot Camp, find your way out of a maze in Land of Ooo and wear the kids out on The Powerpuff Girls giant trampoline. Also look out for workshops, competitions and even the chance to make an animation video of your own!

8. Unleash your inner creativity at an art exhibition for kids
Faber Castell Singapore is holding its second annual art exhibition with ongoing workshops and its annual art exhibition. Look out for art exhibits, live demos, Trick-Eye stations for cool snapshots, and competitions for younger artists age 11 and below. Register online for hands-on classes covering art techniques such as watercolouring, caricature, sketching and calligraphy.

9. Flip out at Flipside
You’ve got 10 days to check out and pack in the fun over at Esplanade’s ‘Flipside’ – a festival where cool totally rules. Fam-friendly events include pop-up performances, huge installation art, puppetry, theatre, and some pretty impressive tech experiences. So much awesome!

10. Make a splash at a Swim Carnival
If you have water-loving kiddos then we’ve just the thing: a Swim Carnival! Water babies age 11 years and below can join in with swim and game stations, a mini bazaar, obstacle courses and a giant bouncy castle!
