Three new thrilling rides, cool giveaways – so many reasons to love The Prudential Marina Bay Carnival!
Growing up, we always loved when the carnival would stop in town – it always meant yummy treats, fun games, and best of all – awesome rides! So there was a collective ‘hurrah’ when news reached us that the Prudential Marina Bay Carnival, bigger and better than ever. Happening now until April 2019, it’s our chance to relive our childhood and also share it with our own little ones. The best part? They’ve got a 2-for-1 offer on all rides and games, running until 10 March 2019! We’ve got a fair-ly fantastic lowdown on all the new rides, and we’ve tried and tested the ones we think are the best for families.
Brand-spanking-new rides for kids and kidults
The Wave Swinger
Kids over 120 cm in height will squeal with delight when they drag persuade mum and dad to hop aboard the Wave Swinger. Just like its older, adventure loving cousin, the Star Flyer, prepare yourself to take in Singapore’s skyline as you twirl around on suspended seats (if you can keep your eyes open that is!). When you’re done taking in the scenery, check out the murals of landmarks across the globe (we hear they’ve included Gardens by The Bay and Marina Bay Sands too!) painted on the ride itself.
Spring Break (Freak Out)
If you’re like us and love the odd adrenaline rush (but are not quite brave enough to ride the Mach 5), Spring Break is definitely one for you. Get ready to spin and be hurtled into the air (like you just don’t care) for plenty of laughs and possibly the odd scream! Needless to say, this ride is only for teens and kidults…
Jumper Jumper
Jumper jumper definitely lives up to its name – it will have you bouncing up and down and spinning all around. In fact, it had HoneyKids writer Sheralyn so terrified that she refused to hop on… #lightweight. Fair warning: probably best not to ride if you suffer from motion sickness!
Remix Extreme
Billed as the Carnival’s wildest ride, the Remix Extreme is definitely not for the faint of heart. We hear it goes over 100 kilometres per hour with 26 rotations per minute – eeek!
And of course, all of last year’s favourite rides for kids (min. height 1.1m) are back in action! There’s the Chairs O’ Plane for a fun swingin’ time, Dumbos to soar about through the air in and even a mini rollercoaster!
Check out our handy guide for all the deets before heading on over for the thrills ‘n’ spills.
Are you feeling lucky?
If you thought last year’s prize selection was pretty cool, this year’s it’s red hot! In fact, there are – wait for it – $3 million worth of soft, cuddly cuties to be won! Grab that ring and toss it, people.
Enjoy the festive atmosphere
Whether you’re taking a break from all the thrill-seeking or you’re done and dusted with all the family fun, nothing says carnival more than tucking into fairground grub. We also love the fact that there’ll be local bands that’ll serenade you while you feast on your favourite snacks and eats. When you’re done, take a walk along the water to check out the brilliant nightly light show, or head back to Marina Bay Sands for a quick shopping trip.
