Nutrient-rich meals for expectant and postpartum mums are often associated with being bland-tasting. These healthy meal providers are on a mission to change that…
Nutrition is bound to take priority when it comes to food during your pregnancy and postpartum days. Food is generally divided into three types during these periods: the must-eats, the not-so-much, and the absolute no-nos. The latter is where your favourite and tastiest dishes would fall under, most of the time. It’s no surprise that pregnancy meals and confinement food have a somewhat bland reputation when it comes to taste.
Plus, it doesn’t help that most food (even what used to be your faves) seems gross during the first trimester. It doesn’t get easier for mums who just gave birth either – after having gone through nearly 40 weeks of being extra cautious with what you eat; it kinda sucks to know that you still can’t eat whatever you want.
But what if we told you that you don’t need to sacrifice flavour for nutrition?
That’s right – meals for expectant and postpartum mums can be nutrient-rich and taste good. Pregnancy Meals and Angel Confinement Meals are two speciality meal providers that have perfected the art of creating healthy and yummy meals for mums and mums-to-be. All dishes are designed by their in-house nutritionist and chefs, cooked without MSG, and are low in salt, sugar, and saturated fats. This is so that both mum and baby can enjoy optimal nutrition all the way from pregnancy to childbirth and onward to confinement.
We’re talking about cooking delicious meals packed with folate, iron, and all the essential nutrients a pregnant mum needs, as well as TCM-approved herb-rich dishes that look good enough to be served at a Michelin restaurant.

For mums who are expecting
For starters, you’ll be served served a hot bowl of seaweed, tofu, and spare ribs soup that’s high in antioxidants and protein. This is followed by Cantonese egg noodles with shredded pork, long bean and minced meat omelette (folates and protein), and grilled salmon with yuzu in plum sauce (omega-3 fatty acids) as mains. Then, wash that all down with a cup of warm low GI organic soy milk rich in vitamin B.
For mums who are in confinement
Start your meal with some nourishing carrot and pork ribs soup. For mains, feast on a dish of grilled salmon with ginger and goji berries (vitamin B12, iron, and antioxidants) and lo han zhai (traditional Chinese mixed vegetable dish that’s high in fibre). Then finish your meal on a sweet note with longan almond tofu, rich in vitamin C and E.
