Curious about what North London Collegiate School (Singapore) can offer your child? We spoke to the Crown family to find out!
Being part of the prestigious North London Collegiate School (NLCS) family of schools, NLCS (Singapore) is known for its ambitious curriculum and top notch pedagogy. But that’s not all, the school also offers outstanding pastoral care to its students, committed to nurturing their individual talents, confidence, and self-worth. We speak to the Crown family to find out what the NLCS (Singapore) experience is like for their two boys.
Hello Aimee and Richard, can you tell us a little more about your sons who are attending NLCS (Singapore)?
Dexter is ten this year and attending Grade 4 at NLCS (Singapore); while Zach is seven and in Grade 2.
What made you decide to enrol them at NLCS (Singapore)?
We were looking for a school that offered the British curriculum, with good facilities, and one that can provide the boys with academic opportunities. NLCS (Singapore) not only follows the British curriculum, but has a close connection with its founding school in the UK. These, along with its fantastic facilities, are exactly what we’re looking for in a school for our children. Another plus point was that the school was able to enrol our boys at short notice mid-way through the academic year.
How did the school make Dexter and Zach feel welcome?
We were greeted by the Head of Juniors and class teachers on day one. The teachers were great at making our boys feel comfortable. They introduced the boys to peers who have similar interests, which made them feel very welcome within their classes. We were very pleased with how seamlessly our boys adjusted and settled into NLCS (Singapore).
That’s good to hear! What do they like most about the school?
The boys listed lots of things! They enjoy everything from Music lessons, to visiting the library, to playing with their friends, and even their core subjects. They also have a shared passion for sports and love what NLCS (Singapore) offers in terms of Physical Education and sports co-curricular activities.
Since you mentioned the library – how have the school’s facilities benefitted your sons?
NLCS’ (Singapore) facilities are fantastic! The school’s sports facilities are perfect for the boys since they’re into sports. There’s a football pitch, tennis courts, basketball courts, climbing wall, swimming pool, dance studio, etc. The list seems endless!
What about parents – does the school build a community for parents, and how would you rate the level of communication you receive from the school?
The school has a Parents Guild which organises community events and activities. We hope to see more opportunities to develop the community going forward. NLCS (Singapore) is also aware that it’s a young school and is continuously improving itself. The school takes any feedback onboard and is committed to make improvements wherever they can.
What do you value most about NLCS (Singapore)?
Its brilliant teachers – they’re the reason why NLCS (Singapore) is a great school. The teachers’ passion, dedication, enthusiasm, and support is something the school should be very proud of.
Last but not least, what advice would you give parents who are trying to choose a school?
It can seem overwhelming with choices available. Do your research, reach out to other parents to get their feedback, attend open days, and you’ll have a much better understanding of which school is the best fit for your child.
Thank you Aimee and Richard!
