Students from 19 different primary and secondary schools across Singapore came, saw and conquered awesome NERF obstacles! We’ve got the deets right here...
Whoop whoop! The folks behind the awesome NERF blasters recently whipped up an uber-cool interschool competition, held on 2 November at the NERF Action Xperience Centre. Students from across 19 participating primary and secondary schools put their athletic and blastin’ skills to the test by conquering exciting NERF game zones – pretty awesome stuff we think! The result? A hugely successful, first-ever NERF interschool competition. Congratulations, kids!
Taking PE classes to the next level
Sure, sports is great but getting to play NERF during PE is a whole other level of active fun. And these kids got to do just that. For the last two years, selected schools in Singapore enjoyed NERF fun in their PE lessons as part of a special co-curricular program, culminating in the competition at the end of it all. So much for being just a Blaster toy – who knew NERF could sharpen key skills like creative thinking, sportsmanship and even courage? It makes us wish we were back at school again!
At the interschool competition, they put all these to the test as they conquered four obstacle courses that allowed them to bring their game play with NERF to the next level. At Zombie City and Camp Dune at the Compete Zone, the kids used their strategic thinking skills and worked as a team to finish their missions – whether it was securing a vaccine in a battle against zombies or invading a new planet to save the world. While over at the Conquer Zone, adventurers and thrill-seekers got their fill by navigating exciting obstacles like an active volcano or scaling dizzying heights at the Summit. Not only that, they got to use different types to NERF blasters too – sweet!
Why we love NERF
Apart from delivering on high-intensity blastin’ fun, NERF also gets kids’ adrenaline pumping through exciting challenges that put their athletic and leadership skills to the test. It also encourages teamwork, which definitely boosts social skills – a big bonus for any mum who’s been wanting their kids to get up and off their couches! On top of encouraging kids to adopt an active lifestyle, the NERF gameplay itself also trains hand-eye coordination, agility, focus and stamina – our local football legend Fandi Ahmad and his sporty children are known to be fans of the game too! Check out how they spend their bonding time with NERF here:
