If you’re a fan of the IB, you’ll be pleased to know that Nexus will be offering the MYP* in the new academic year. Here’s how your child could benefit from this awesome programme.
We all know that cool school Nexus International School (Singapore) pulls out all the stops when it comes to their learners. From their awesome facilities (hello, treehouse!) to their innovative learning approach — they’re always one step ahead. To take their already-solid curriculum even further, they will be increasing their learners’ chances at success with the new addition of an established framework: the Middle Years Programme (MYP)* in August this year. New to the MYP*? Here are three key benefits of this programme…
3 benefits of the MYP* at Nexus International School (Singapore)
1. A well-rounded education that produces future-ready learners
The MYP integrates global concepts into the school’s existing Secondary curriculum, making it more extensive and balanced. The programme also promotes skills such as problem solving, evaluation and analysis. All these provide a solid foundation for future-ready learners and make them more adaptable to whatever life throws at them.
We also love the fact that with the MYP*, learning is a collaborative effort. It promotes interconnectivity between different subject areas and interaction among children, which raises the standard of learning and gives them a more holistic approach.
2. Children can take charge of their own learning journey
While most children don’t get to personalise their education until they reach secondary school, with the addition of the MYP*, as an IB school, Nexus learners already have a voice and a choice in their academics. The purpose? To make them more passionate about what they learn. Teachers are there to guide and support learners in realising their passions. At the same time, provide a safe environment for young ones to achieve their dreams.
3. A smoother transition to the rigorous IBDP and IGCSE
There’s no doubt that the MYP* well-prepares children for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) and the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) curricula. From Year 7 onwards, learners are already exposed to the rigorous yet highly flexible framework of the IB, making the adjustment a lot easier as they progress through their educational journey.
As the programme is fundamentally based on conceptual learning, research has indicated that the outcomes of such an approach is outstanding when compared to the traditional approach of content learning. This is evidently seen from statistics that show IB graduates accomplishing greater results than graduates from other academic systems.
